Irish Potato Bread
My one of my all time favourite breakfast companion foods. This time, making it myself and tasting way better than the store bought ones.
1/ After boiling potatoes, mash with butter, add salt, pepper and Rosemary seasoning (this part is very important or else, no flavour). Mix, add flour and mix again then knead.
2/ Roll and flatten dough, cut into sections, then dry fry each piece, 2 at a time in my case.
3/ Turn, fry the other side , making sure they're cooked properly then set on plate and dry fry the rest of the slices.
4/ Serve with breakfast or on it's own. Enjoy

Ministers are deciding RIGHT NOW whether to scrap Palantir's NHS contract. This Trump-linked surveillance company has no place in our health service. I've signed, will you?

@PamelaBarroway@mstdn.social @dangillmor@mastodon.social Smart move! In fact, we need to go back to the days where everything was stored locally as oppose to depending on companies to collect, store our data for exploitation.
Just keep things safe and simple. That and it will also cut down on all the electricity that gets wasted too.

@occult@vox.ominous.net We should never have installed them in the first place.
It's only now that people can see the issues caused to our privacy and our communities due to the shameless authoritarian acts of ICE that are becoming a lot more transparent these days that causes people to think and question more about what devices we use and install in our homes.

Dear friends,
I just signed the petition "Stop Palantir taking over our public services!" and wanted to ask if you could add your name too.
This campaign means a lot to me and the more support we can get behind it, the better chance we have of succeeding. You can read more and sign the petition here:
https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/stop-palantir-taking-over-our-public-services?share=d486bac1-7718-466b-9dd8-c9b0d06f5946&source=email&utm_campaign=blast145782&utm_medium=socialshare&utm_source=email
Thank you!
P.S. Can you also take a moment to share the petition with others? It's really easy – all you need to do is forward this email or share this link on Facebook or Twitter: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/stop-palantir-taking-over-our-public-services?share=d486bac1-7718-466b-9dd8-c9b0d06f5946&source=email&utm_campaign=blast145782&utm_medium=socialshare&utm_source=email

@Fokeu@mastodon.social @PamelaBarroway@mstdn.social @dangillmor@mastodon.social Well...more specifically set networks of computers/servers sending data everywhere to selected companies, data centers and whatnot.
But whatever the hell the 'Cloud' is, and especially in regards to this case, it's data getting scraped on our personal lives and getting exploited for personal profit that benefits authoritarianism and potential Oligarchs.

2/ Of course, I personally never suffered like they had, and the North of Ireland had only recently officially expanded the teachings of the Irish language in schools across the land. I've only been taught specks of it. That said, I can't say I have a complete understanding of what the Puerto Ricans went through, but I can acknowledge the pain and suffering that they went through and the importance of exposing this history that the 'Bad Bunny' has shown in his performance.
Not for the sake of smearing a country, or to say 'these are bad people' (There's always going to be evil people anyway regardless of race or nationality), but rather to say 'THIS HAPPENED!! IT NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED, WE NEED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE SUFFERING THEY WENT THROUGH, AND WE SHOULD ALL LEARN THAT THIS SHOULD NEVER EVER HAPPEN AGAIN!!'
History does matters!!

@Immy@equestria.social For the most part, i think it's great. It's very impressive that you can use desktop apps on the mobile device and even connect up to a monitor to act like a desktop computer it very handy. I never thought I could use an app like 'Trelby' (screenplay app) on a mobile device and I never have issues using SSH and sending files back and forth from other linux devices and having remote access to those devices too.
There are things about the distro that keeps it from it being a consumer friendly device. For example, customizing the background/lock screen images can only be changed through the terminal. Sometimes when you install an app from it's official app store, it doesn't let you remove it due to the changes to the file names. So you have to know your coding to remove the app itself.
I still think it's great, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they already have a decent understanding of Linux already.

@dangillmor@mastodon.social Dammit! Why does society choose to walk into these things all the time?
We could've easily avoided all of this if we choose to just reject this, but that's only possible if we choose to.

@jensorensen So basically, anyone who can't make an argument or a counter argument about the basic needs and rights of mankind has to resort to mockery of vague verbal name calling to make themselves feel good aka dismissing it all out of hand without any argument to stand on? :rainbowhuh:
Weird times!

Palantir, the controversial U.S. company working with ICE and the Israeli military, has access to our private data via NHS databases. We need the Government to trigger the break clause on their contract NOW. 🚨Can you sign and share?

1/ You know, this is all so fascinating, and in many ways, my parents, family and ancestors can relate to.
Being from Northern Ireland, there was a time where speaking in Irish or even being Irish was condemned and 'criminalized' and it can be very violent too; especially during the times of the 'troubles,' as it's called. During those times when my parents moved to England for work, there existed bars and restaurants etc that had signs hung up that read 'No Blacks, No Irish, No Dogs Allowed.' Learning that alone even surprised me, plus the other harassment from other people, even those in the police force, those experiences my parents told me made my blood boil. That's not even getting into the other experiences for family members face back then.

In just a few days, 34,000 of us have signed the petition calling the Reform party to scrap their plans to rip up workers rights, anti-discrimination laws and housing protections that benefit millions of people.
Why does that matter? Because with Reform leading the polls, the plans they announce today could be our reality tomorrow - unless we push back hard. And right now, they're testing the waters to see how their ideas land. If they think their plans are unpopular, they could simply scrap them. So let's prove it to them!

@koen_hufkens@mastodon.social As the old saying goes: if you want something done properly, you just got to do it yourself.
Seriously, this is exactly what happens if we all just "trust" companies with our privacy, our personal security and our data. It's not something that they need from us, it's what they want to profir from us. I get business is business, but our data is our responsibility first ans foremost and companies won't take accountability and if so, they hardly face much consequence. This is already very common and shouldn't be tolerated.
