Season 5 of Reacher is in production (in Canada, land of the freer) so it appears Ritchson is not dropping out of the stories.
Whether that series involving the white supremacists is ever produced is probably up in the air, at least until 2029.

“Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives Jack Bergman, John James, Lisa McClain and John Moolenaar penned a letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney, and reportedly sent it on Wednesday ‘demanding immediate action from the Canadian government,’ a press release said.

Also consider the speed of the fire spreading in a remote area was probably a condition no one expected, until the trains were in the midst of it.
As for the no phones rule, I found the policy for Via Rail in Canada (that CN Rail likely has as well) that would apply here where the use of a ‘communications device’ is permitted:
“At any time to transmit an emergency situation or to advise others of an unsafe condition;”

In an opinion piece in The Star the author bemoans the fact that “Carney won’t release the text of his arrangement with Trump and Canadian officials are refusing to brief the media.”
Further down in their opinion they note that “Trump is now calling the bridge deal ‘great, and fair’…”
Given the way Trump trumpets everything he does as immensely great (he’s ended ten wars after all) it’s very likely the deal he negotiated has limited value for the US with a stipulation that the Canadians keep quiet about it.
“It now looks as if Carney’s strategy with the mob boss in the White House is to wait until Trump gets whacked, whether that’s in this year’s midterm elections, or at some later time.”
True, but Carney may not want to accused of accelerating the whacking.

A significant cause of the overcrowding is due to people being held on remand because the courts are so backed up due to a shortage of judges and prosecutors. The money for new jails would be better spent fixing that.
Meanwhile Ford wants bail conditions tightened up which would only make it worse so his solution is more jails.

Case in point, from Politico regarding the trade talks:
“‘I’ve given lots of proposals to the Canadians on things that could be done immediately to put us in a better position,’ [U.S. Trade Rep. Jamieson Greer] said before suggesting any breakthrough in talks hinges on Carney and President Donald Trump first coming to an ‘understanding.’
Carney said the same last month, telling reporters that any turning point in trade talks will be the result of high-level discussions directly with Trump.”
It’s clear the final decisions on anything lie with Trump so as long as he thinks he’s winning, which require plenty of give and take on Carney’s part. It does mean complete capitulation from “elbows up” especially when Trump’s losses need to be kept quiet, or else.

“Doug Ford’s ‘Northern Shield’ pipeline isn’t going to happen. Even so, his decision to propose it speaks to a mindset, and a worldview, that still hasn’t reckoned with the economic realities bearing down on his province and its people.
Ontario can, and should, take energy security seriously, and it should be thinking about how that interacts with the economic interests of its manufacturing sector — especially what those look like 50 years down the road. It would help if its premier actually focused on the road in front of him for a change.”

It’s around 50% in Canada:
“Analysis from 1995 to 2024 shows that human
activity accounts for just under half (49%) of all fire ignitions, whereas natural causes account for 47%, with the remaining 4% attributed to unspecified causes (Table 1). However, natural-caused fires are responsible for a large share of area burned (89%; Table 2).”

“Over the first five months of 2026 [in the United States], utility-scale solar output rose 21.6 percent from a year earlier, while coal generation dropped 10.9 percent. The agency projects that solar, wind, and battery storage will add about 83 gigawatts of new capacity by May 2027. Fossil and nuclear capacity are set to slip by nearly 4.7 gigawatts over the same period.”
Nuclear power may be cleaner than fossil fuels but it takes years to implement and the costs are exorbitant, not to mention what to do with the radioactive waste. Wind and solar should be the focus now.
“[Google and Meta] moved for the same reason. Solar is now the cheapest and fastest new power they can buy, and they need staggering amounts of it for their datacenters. That appetite is the driver of the curve.”

In a perfect world we could quite rightly say to an American administration that left wing terrorism is not a problem that needs to be resolved whereas right wing terrorism is so we politely refuse to attend your gathering until you convene one that is directed to dealing with the right wing issue.
However this is not a perfect world and to try and politely decline an invitation from Rubio at this time is fraught with negative implications beyond delaying the opening of a bridge.
You and I both know this is stupid but we’ve been dealing with stupid since Trump was re-elected.
That’s all I’m saying.

However, there’s smoke from wildfires in northern Minnesota affecting the eastern US as well so the Republicans could use that to demonstrate just exactly how containing wildfire smoke is done.
