The Calamity Club
A Novel
By
Kathryn Stockett
theirs—and the power of friendship to change everything.
Oxford, Mississippi, 1933.
Abandoned by her mother one Christmas Eve, eleven-year-old Meg Lefleur has learned the hard way to rely on no one. Now one of the unadoptable "big girls" at the Lafayette County Orphan Asylum, she fights each day to keep her spirit unbowed.
Birdie Calhoun, unmarried and outspoken, has come to Oxford to ask her socialite sister to help the struggling family she’s left behind. But as the Depression tightens its grip, Birdie discovers her sister’s seemingly charmed life is a tapestry of lies.
Then, Birdie encounters Charlie, a woman running low on luck with little left to lose. When their fates—and Meg’s—converge, Charlie comes up with an audacious plan for them to take control of their lives. But in a place and time where hypocrisy is rife and women’s freedom is fragile, even the smallest act of defiance can have dangerous consequences.
The Calamity Club will make you laugh, cry, and cheer—an epic testament to underestimated women who know that calamity can be the spark of new beginnings. This is Kathryn Stockett at her most confident, heartfelt, and hilarious—the triumphant return of one of the most beloved storytellers of our time.
Well, hell. I just learned that i can do control+shift+w and close all open documents in NotePad++. this makes my life all kinds of easier.
What I can gather from the description it looks like it could be funny.
The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion: Vol. 1
By:
Beth Brower
“I’ve arrived in London without incident. There are few triumphs in my recent life, but I count this as one. My existence of the last three years has been
nothing but incident.”
The Year is 1883 and Emma M. Lion has returned to her London neighborhood of St. Crispian’s. But Emma’s plans for a charmed and studious life are sabotaged
by her eccentric Cousin Archibald, her formidable Aunt Eugenia, and the slightly odd denizens of St. Crispian’s.
Emma M. Lion offers up her Unselected Journals, however self-incriminating they may be. Armed with wit and a sideways amusement, Emma documents the curious
realities of her life at Lapis Lazuli House.
Audiences have compared Beth Brower's writing to Jane Austen, Oscar Wilde, P.G. Wodehouse, and L. M. Montgomery.
Last night I finished the Dolby Atmos Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It was spectacular. Today we're having an ignore the world reading and gaming day. Bob's going to game with one of our friends and the 3 of us are going to chat. RDR2 is the game of choice if anyone is curious.

Honeysuckle
by Bar Fridman-Tell
The Bear and the Nightingale meets Weyward in this enchanting, deeply compelling debut about love and power, autonomy and consent.
Named a Best Book of March 2026 by Barnes & Noble and Apple.
Once upon a time, on the edge between meadow and forest, there was a lonely child with only his older sister for company. In exchange for being left in peace, his sister made him a playmate—Daye, a girl woven from flowers and words. And for the first time, this boy, Rory, had a friend.
Rory couldn’t be happier, until he learns that Daye is a short-lived creature. At the end of each season, she must be woven back together or fall gruesomely apart. And every time Daye falls apart might be her last.
As Rory and Daye grow older and the line between friendship and romance begins to blur, Rory becomes desperate to break this cycle of bloom and decay. But the farther Rory pushes his research and experiments to lengthen Daye’s existence, the more Daye begins to wonder just how much control she really has over her own life.
As a loose reimagining of the story of Blodeuwedd from Welsh mythology, Honeysuckle is an entrancing, inventive, and unsettling debut.
This book sounds like it could be good.

By:
Megan Jauregui Eccles
Narrated by:
Lauren Ezzo
Series:
Opera Magique,
Book 1
Discover a fantastical story inspired by The Phantom of the Opera, as musical magicians compete for the once-in-a-lifetime role as the King's Mage, but
only if their magic—or fellow contestants—don't destroy them first—perfect for fans of Leigh Bardugo and Erin Morgenstern.
For as long as Selene remembers, she's only wanted one thing: to sing the boldest, brightest magic into existence and win L′Opéra du Magician. To the winner
goes the spoils of being declared King′s Mage, a position her father held years ago, before he lost control of his magic and spiraled into madness, leaving
Selene an orphan. But when the competition turns cutthroat and a competitor steals Selene′s song, the chance to redeem her father's legacy begins to slip
through her fingers.
Until, in the depths of the opera house, she discovers a mysterious and beautiful man trapped within a mirror. He offers not only the magic of music, but
a darker sorcery of shadow, blood, and want. He can help Selene if she helps him in return—but his forbidden magic may not be worth the cost.
As the competition continues and mages are driven to ruin competing for the king′s favor, Selene must navigate betrayal, the return of childhood love,
and the price of ambition.
I'm excited about this book.
But I'm only on book 4 of the series. But what I've read I've loved.
The Glittering Heath , By Ben Anderson ,
It's the autumn of 1848 in Ireland, and something in the world of Men has changed. Fairies have been seen, strange creatures dance under the moon on the bogs. The Dark Others have grown bold, and have plans to bring in an age of darkness. Colleebn is sent on a journey after Fafnir, back to his ancient forge in the depths of time, where he intends to create a final relic to deal with the Fomorians once and for all. Frederick discovers the location of the same forge in the present, and goes there with an unlikely set of allies to find and retrieve that same relic. All the while, the Dark Others are on their trail, and a final encounter with them will shape the destiny of the worlds. Bold adventures, ancient legends, fairy tales, strange creatures, and unlooked-for surprises are woven throughout this seventh book of The McGunnegal Chronicles.
Finished my story for my writing group prompt. I did kind of procrastinate. But I did come up with something.
Has anyone read this series?
I'm sure the enemies will end up lovers and all will end well and happily.
Synopsis for book 1.
Title: Empire of Flame and Thorns
Author: Marion Blackwood
A fae rebel. A ruthless dragon commander.
And a deadly trial that will turn their lives upside down.
Trapped in the Seelie Court by a forest of thorns, Selena Hale lives at the mercy of the dragon shifters. Her only chance to gain her freedom is by entering the Atonement Trials: a deadly competition that pits fae magic users against each other. Only three people can win, and Selena intends to be one of them.
There is only one problem. Draven Ryat, the ruthless commander of the dragon shifter army, is determined to make her lose.
He symbolizes everything that she hates, and if he finds out that she is also a member of the secret fae rebellion, he will not only mess with her chances to win, he will kill her. But the more time she spends with him, the more she finds herself inexplicably drawn to him.
And nothing is more dangerous in a lethal trial than a distracted heart.
Especially one that beats for the enemy.
I'm a little bit sad when people misspell Artemis.
Next Thursday we're seeing Willy Tea Taylor! I can't wait! And we're going to have excellent coal fire pizza before the show. The place he's playing has excellent pizza. So of course I'm quite excited. Then in April we're going to see Alice Cooper for time number 3 I think it is for me?
Bob and i are doing yet another joint show. We start today at 5 PM East. You can chat with us on either Discord or WhatsApp.
Join us for all the fun.

I'm so glad Sevendust isn't breaking up.
I'm sad however that they're playing at Sonic Temple. Because... Sonic Temple. I'm too old for that kind of thing. And i don't want to see my favorite bands for 15 minutes or half an hour and be around a lot of stinky drunk probably annoying people. LOL.
