happy Canada day to everyone from not the 51st state.
admitedly I don't use seeing ai very often but when I just launched it to see why my work computer is stuck, I can't get it to read anything when I point my camera at the screen of my computer. that is what I always used it for before. just point it at something and it would read whatever it could see. now silent and my work computer is still stuck. I think it might be doing a bios update so I don't want to turn it off.

more questions. If I attend a teams meeting on my phone which I often do, will that be tracked as idle time? Will I get reports on the metrics of people who report to me? Will those be accessible? I bet not. many more questions. I guess we will see what develops as time goes forward. I don't like the idea because as a manager I like to operate under the presumption that my people are competant adults and unless you are not getting your work done, we do not have a problem. However, this decision is being made way above my pay grade. Let's see what comes out.

wonder if there is a way to not have "shorts" show up in my youtube notifications. I don't like shorts. you can't lock your phone and they auto repeat. just make them go away!

farley is walking around not super far but he is like a completely different dog from yesterday. it will still take a while and I don't know if he will ever go back to work but he walks by himself. kind of wabbley but a hell of a lot better.

well, today going to the retirement party of one of my favorite people at work who was always happy to amplify the accessibility agenda. When she was a product owner, was great to work with.

okay, probably the first night in about 4 or 5 months when loud 19 year old is not playing on his games because he is not here. the quiet is so nice! Can we have more of this! Just me and the dog and lots of quiet!

lovely. instacart thinks I am fraud because I did an order that I do almost the same every couple of weeks. to fix it, upload photos of your government issued photo ID and your credit card but mask certain parts. I could maybe take photos which would pass but how the hell do I mask parts of it as a blind person? I will call but I suspect this will be one of those get your carer to help discussions. the department of handicaps didn't give me one of those.

@lynessence@caneandable.social @mcourcel@allovertheplace.ca I tried to find out and couldn't. they have some consulting company. maybe it is the same one as go transit who hid their entire weekend pass form in side a roll=image aria tag which hid the whole thing for screen reader and keyboard users.
alright, have been procrastinating because it is a lot of work. Have had Dreamhost hosting for many years. I think since 2007. the price has been increasing. their control panel became pretty awful for accessibility over the last couple of years. Now I discover, they have deleted all the email addresses for my discussion lists so people can not subscribe and things by sending email. I have to find an alternative and work out how to migrate everything. email isn't too bad I can use imap copy or something to move all that stuff but discussions lists which are mailman is a harder thing. I think this will have to be a project for this weekend. I can't even do thing in the control panel like unlock my registration to move it somewhere else but perhaps I can enslave kid to do some of the things that seem to require a mouse to get to the menus now like manipulating dns which used to work fine. Anyone know of a good host. Just need lots of email and very basic web site hosting. for hopefully less than 17 maga bucks a month which is what dreamhost costs now for service that isn't accessible.

I think I can manage the mail accounts and web content. there is a lot of mail but I think I can use a utility to back all that up to move to another server. there is not much web content. the discussion lists of which there are 12 is a very different story. Thjat will not be easy without shell access to the machine which contains mailman.
trying to figure out taxes. my kid turned 18 in 2025. can I claim him as a dependeant for the part of the year before he was 18. it would seem not, seems to be an all or nothing thing.

okay, perhaps a silly question. When Americans talk about elections, they talk about people being Registered republicans or democrats or independant. As a Canadian, I don't understand this. We have multiple political parties and I can choose to be a member of any or none of them but that has no impact on how I vote in an election or which ballot I get or anything. so I don't get it. Most people here are not a member of any party. I think a very small percentage of the population actually takes out a party membership in any party. I think one might have a rule that you can't be a member if you hold a membership in another party but not even sure about this. This is just a concept I don't get.
