But fr fr tho, #Juneteenth is the distinctly Black American holiday because America's history is distinctly black. The country's never fully reckoned with slavery or accepted our liberation.
Even Juneteenth is a correction to injustice, a celebration of long overdue Black liberation from captivity that persisted in the South past the Civil War.
Some much of American, especially modern American history is predicated on ignoring or hiding Black history. Making it a federal holiday forces that conversation.
I like that some white people get mad about Juneteenth or don't understand it or think it's made up. It's useful for learning who to avoid.

That's a really interesting note. I never learned to play guitar, and I admittedly focus on the singer's voice, the lyrics, and the drums in most of the rock/punk/metal/post-hardcore I listen to.

H is for Hakumen. Hakumen is why I'm "NaClKnight"
I played Blazblue throughout college with my first real fighting game buddy. We played a lot of games but BlazBlue was the most even between us and most consistent.
Hakumen can be frustrating to play with (his movement is either slow, costly, or high commitment, he has no projectiles, and all his special moves cost meter, let alone his supers), but he can also be frustrating to play against (has very quick parries, has 2 good pokes, has big, dangerous sword swings, has very high damage potential and steals rounds) so we started riffing on him.
We called him the Salty Samurai. I play good defense and make approaching me difficult and costly.
Salty Samurai eventually became NaClKnight cause I thought it was clever to use the chemical formula for Table Salt and retain the alliteration. And I like Knights more than Samurai
So I started using that for tourneys online and IRL, where people pronounce it Nackle or Salt or SaltKnight.
Eventually i took Blazblue Central Fiction seriously and got pretty good. Enough to be a server's best Hakumen and show up in their top 4 in a few tourneys. I love Hakumen. I hate most of Blazblue's pixie ass anime stereotype ass mahou shoujo ass roster. But gahdamn i love playing Hakumen
I don't like the story mode of Blazblue at all, but that's mostly cause I dislike overly convoluted stories with too many proper nouns, but in Universe Hakumen is a hero. Jin was a rising star in the military assigned to apprehend his criminal brother. Then things got spooky. He, his brother, and a creepy robot girl all fell into a hole in the world. Jin lost his physical body but someone poured his soul inot this suit of armor. The whole experience gave him perspective.
As Hakumen, he helped kill the giant magical beast plaguing humanity. He's the first of the Six Heroes. And when he was done killing the black Beast, humanity threw him into the abyss, hoping the rolling waves of chaos would kill him.
Hakumen survived, weakened and angry.
In game he represents the order of an upside down world trying to right itself.
He has a cool ass mantra to boot.
Hakumen is an all time character for me across any medium. Faceless. Vigilant., Resolute. Just. Powerful.
He calls himself The White Void. The Just Blade. The Cold Steel. I call him my favorite.

So the feud simmering beneath the first book of #BeatPreyLove is Abby 'Sinnnamon Sweet" Summers and her recently soured rivalry with Vivian 'Wendy Daze" Jiang. The former's getting ready to graduate from college and focus full-time on martial arts and her streaming career. The latter is a graduate student balancing school and martial arts. Abby's not as nice as her cute demeanor suggests, while Vivian is much more combative than her nerdy party girl vibe.
Ostensibly, a boy and a love triangle turned these friends into foes, but the kind of vitriol Abby holds for Vivian suggests that the boy was merely the last straw.
They've got very different looks, careers, and fighting styles, but each time they square off you can expect magic and surprises.

i have in the past, either directly or in response to open requests for critique. It's not something i do frequently. I am aware that my reading habits and preferences are out of step with what's popular and caveat my feedback as such, but it's gun asking those questions, seeing which choices were incidental vs intentional, and reading something i wouldn't have picked on my own.
I would like to be a beta reader, because of the way i have seen that kind of feedback benefit my own writing and planning, but the last writer i wanted to do that for made it clear that they thought of me as a fan, not a fellow writer offering feedback.

#FreeCAD (https://www.freecad.org/features.php?lang=en) is good but missing enough features to make me truly miss #SolidWorks
If pirating SolidWorks or using FreeCAD are my two options I'm actually not sure what I'd pick.
Honestly? If there was a #CAD3d option with a reasonable subscription ($50-200/year) that didn't make me relearn my workflow I'd definitely pay for that.
Onshape is online only and makes all your designs public unless you pay them $1500 a year, which.... nah. Hell nah.

I agree with @tiotasram@kolektiva.social, but also, i feel like Fighting Games, FPS, and RTS are the genres whose competitive scenes predate the modern concept of "e-sports" and those scenes should get a pass.

That writer and i eventually fell out anyways over a disagreement about what constitutes "gratuitous" Japanese and if "hakama" and "haori" have useful English equivalents.
I didn't consider it a great loss though, once i realized that my favorite story that they wrote was a one off short story about a character who belonged to their friend.

SignalRGB is closed source freeware to sync and control all the RGB on my PC and accessories but I happily pay their annual subscription to support development and get new features
Discord is closed source freeware too but I've never even considered paying for their annual subscription
I don't fully know what drives that difference for me.

I might actually be a bonfide #Nintendo hater. I have soooo little connection or appreciation for their franchises and negative interest in playing any new first party games from them. It's been a gradual decline since... high school, one finally punctuated by dissatisfaction with Smash Ultimate and Zelda BotW.

These all strike me as incredibly naive or otherwise outright excuses for why we need to be nicer to the innocent capital owners and rent extractors who keep coincidentally working to consolidate money and power and extract as much as possible from those who labor.
