I'm happy to report that my talk "FLINTA Cruising: An Orgyniser Analysis" has been accepted for the @MRMCD@chaos.social!
Looking forward to talking about my orgynising~
Horny on main, because I'm mainly horny.

I will never use generative 'AI' in any of my projects, writings, posts, etc.
You can flirt with me, but only if you do better than "🥺🥺🥺", and accept that there's a good chance I won't reciprocate.
Description of profile picture: It's a picrew. It shows a very pale-skinned person looking at the viewer. She has wavy purple hair, black eyes and purple lips. She's wearing a black sort of v-cut top, a somewhat thin collar/choker with a crescent moon hanging from it.
Description of the banner picture: a public domain digital drawing. It shows an empty field at night, with a single bush. The sky is purple, almost like an aurora. The field reflects the purple light. A dozen black birds are flying around in the sky, not trying to go anywhere in particular. A full moon is in the sky, by far the brightest part of the image.

Kid at the party: "whose mum are you?"
Me: "I don't have any children"
Kid: "why not?"
Guess I'm mum-coded
So this article about a recent study is floating around my feed at the moment: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/08862605261432630
Basically, the gist is that "95.1% [of surveyed men] reported having recently used at least one of the strategies to [force] a woman to have sex who they knew did not want sex and had not consented."
Which is fucked. Extra fucked that the study only asks about the last 4 years. So these are all recent occurrences.
But there are some things I would like to note:
- The study is not, and does not claim to be, representative. That "95.1% [of surveyed men]" should not and cannot be extrapolated to all men. The rate for men in general is probably still staggeringly high, but I seriously doubt it is that high.
- Before the survey, "The consent form indicated that the survey was men’s opportunity “to provide their side of the story given that we have heard so much from women”" which would presumably make the demographic that does not force women to have sex, run the fuck away from the survey.
- There is an error in one of the tables, probably because the data was at some point written out by hand, instead of being copy-pasted from an automatically generated table. This doesn't directly mean anything about the quality of the data, but it is a bit odd that this happened. I've contacted the authors to clarify what happened here.
To be clear, I still think this study is valuable. As the article says: "This is one of the first studies to our knowledge to directly survey men anonymously about recent attempts to force an unwilling and nonconsenting woman to have sex." That's incredibly, incredibly valuable.
The scientific community needs to start focusing on the perpetrators of sexual violence - because those are the people who need to change, to help ensure the safety of everyone. And this study, despite its flaws, takes us all one step closer to that.
Disclaimer: I'm an amateur sexologist, which is a fancy way of saying that I find sex and sexual relationships very interesting, but I have zero formal qualifications. I'm also not an expert in interpreting academic writings. I may have missed or misinterpreted something important.
ok I've decided: whenever I get a funny domain idea, I'll just post it in this thread instead of buying it.
fuck i'm now earning enough to have to pay income taxes. i'm basically the bourgeoisie
Autistic train nerds seriously expect people to know wtf "RK" means without context
I heard there was a FLINTA Cruising in Berlin. Does anyone have any more info on that?

A little linguistic puzzle that I thought of. I'm not really much of a linguistics person, but I know a lot of people here are.
The challenge is to make a chain of words, where the source word is translated from language A to language B, and then has a different meaning in language A. Then the output word is again translated from language A to language B.
For example: English -> German
diverse -> divers
divers -> Taucher*innen
Taucher*innen -> (not a word in English, so can't be translated to German)
In the example, the chain length is two.
If a chain causes a loop, then you get points for each 'connection' that doesn't include the one that causes a loop.
There's probably a bunch of other edge cases I haven't thought about because, again, I'm not a linguist, or even a language nerd.
Oh and please don't use computers to try and programmatically find the best solution. That's boringggg.
Longest chain wins.
Good luck~
EDIT: the language that is being translated from needs to be the same in every step
Do you own (or have owned) a framework device and have had it be defective in some way? (through no fault of your own, so no external damage)
#askfedi
Ok so I have a nothing phone 1 that I bought used. I got a good deal on it, because it was bootlooping, and I figured I could fix it. And indeed, I did! Yay!
However, it has factory reset protection ("FRP"), which means that I can't actually use the damn thing. The previous owner claims not to have the PIN or access to the Google account, which is somewhat suspicious, but whatever.
There are "tutorials" online claiming that this-or-that software can bypass the FRP. Are there any that won't just straight-up scam me? I don't mind the risk of malware, because I'll be running the application in a Windows VM anyway
I have one ticket for the FSCK left tomorrow - if you'd like it, please DM me :)
Edit: gone
What should I use to backup my crap?
Needs:
- linux support
- easily automated
- encryption
- incremental backups
- dedupe/compression
- low memory usage, even with lots of files (so no restic)
- rclone backend support
Wants:
- no slop
