The rest of the world is having to find ways to deal with the entire power drunk bunch of morons the US elected — either by voting in large numbers for them, or staying home and choosing to avoid their responsibilities to a functioning society. Yes, I know not everyone voted for him/them, but come on, the rest of the world isn’t responsible. We’re all just trying to survive a mess we did not create — and cannot fix.

Good grief, I have the utmost disdain for the CFIB as an organization -- mostly because they seem to be more committed to whining and gnashing of teeth than finding solutions. YOU, CFIB can help your members find a way to pivot to other markets -- yes, Dan, there are markets accessible to Canada besides the US.
Government and business groups need to support SMEs as they find a way to adjust to the idea that doing most of your business in the US is no longer viable. //end rant

I think things have changed in tech over the years, but back in the ‘90s, I regularly showed up at offices and was asked, “where’s the computer guy?” I always replied, “I AM the computer guy.” Our clients were medical offices and clinics, and invariably it was the male docs who were expecting a man to fix their tech issues. 🙄
(My dad was a mechanic, so I know my way around vehicles too. 😎)

Edwin, have the bookshelves delivered! I haven’t been to an actual IKEA store since 2020. Closest one to me is 1h 15m DRIVE away…on a good day, with light traffic. Luckily, they have a great website and app, and delivery is reasonable. (Our house is 90% IKEA, 10% dust bunnies…😂)

More like a cartoon villain, Edwin. A poorly drawn cartoon villain. Can you imagine being the leader of any other country and having to deal with him in high level diplomatic meetings? He’s a complete loon, but also a narcissist with great power…so crazy AND dangerous. Not a good combination.

I just chalked it up to their delicate masculine egos. It was as if having a woman arrive to fix a tech problem that had befuddled THEM was an affront to their masculinity.
My first computer needed to have enough power & memory to run SPSS, a statistical analysis tool I was using in university. When I was shopping for my system, a couple of sales guys were openly incredulous. One even asked me, “why would YOU need such a powerful system?” 🤔

Pretty much. They’re not sure how to deal with negotiations, because they’re only interested in capitulation. They’ve perfected the art of the shakedown, but aren’t sure how to deal with countries that expect diplomacy instead. As Seinfeld once said, “oh, that’s a shame.” 🥱

I talk about it all the time — but I haven’t convinced anyone to join. Unfortunately, I think Mastodon has gotten a reputation for being difficult to navigate, and full of reply guys and scolds — and negative perceptions can be difficult to change. I’m bridged to bsky, which I find helpful, and I use facebook only under duress, because it’s a cesspool. Left twitter behind in 2022. There’s so much to like here, but there’s a learning curve, and ppl are impatient.

Wow. 😬 I kinda feel bad for the kids, because their bad behaviour is 100% about their parents…BUT you have a right to enjoy your yard. FWIW, I agree you should just keep trashing the toys — because it doesn’t seem like talking is going to help. I know you’re tossing back the important stuff, but I’d be tempted to trash that too. For your plantings, perhaps you could build a little temporary shelter or net? Bad neighbors are really challenging…

I block ‘em too, and thankfully I don’t encounter them very often. But I think newcomers often feel a bit overwhelmed by perceived tripwires here. They arrive, then they need rebuild their social network, and THEN they encounter ppl that scold them for breaking some unwritten rules. Shortly after I arrived, I posted a photo of my dog as a puppy. I had some guy insist that I place a content warning on my post because he didn’t want to see dogs on his timeline. Ummm…what? No.

Yep. As an organization they consistently show a lack of imagination, and they’re always whining about government doing unto them. (Even small business tax cuts are never enough…). We belonged to the org for one year early on, and their hard RW political slant, coupled with their propensity to whine about everything, was enough to convince us it was not a good fit for us. 🤷♀️

He totally should. After the blowhard publicly bragging about what a fantabulous deal he’d made with Belarus…then Belarus saying umm…nope. He’s desperate. We know it. He knows it. We’ve got him over a barrel. So increase the price. And let him negotiate it down to whatever they’re paying now…IF Iyou must. But definitely don’t lower the price. Supply and demand, kids.
