one thing i dont think people really realize is how long nvidia has been engineering the current situation. They used to literally airdrop free nvidia GPUs onto everyone's head in any lab if it might get them to use an algorithm that needed an nvidia GPU instead of another algorithm at first they weren't really sure and thought it might be physics. so they airdropped free GPUs on physics labs. guess who had a physics lab at that time. that's right. Geoffrey Hinton. the guy who created deep learning neural networks then nvidia couldn't tell if it would be cryptocurrency or deep learning neural networks so we got two gpu shortage cycles out of that. okay this is their entire CUDA program. from beginning to end. One goal. Create demand for something other than video games that will need nvidia gpus. by plying everyone with free samples. they didn't know what would really hit at first but here we are.
