Still masking. Polysaturated witch. One-chili neurospicy. Heartsick and angry, looking to expand my community, and share info about local opportunities for mutual aid, among other things. It's my responsibility to listen and learn; corrections gratefully accepted. Pronouns: she/her.

@EricIndiana@mastodon.social Yet another example of the utility of alt text. I don't need a screen reader, but couldn't figure out what Sheena was perched on until I read it. "Dressmaker's dummy? Plaid blanket on.. a thing?" So, thanks for the alt text, this time on my own behalf.

@Annacats I'm so sorry. She went out on my lap, with my spouse holding her paw and looking into her eyes, last year on the first day of Spring.

I'm taking a week-long electronics break; I spent 8 hours in the bathroom yesterday chasing dopamine hits from a logic puzzle game. See folks on the flip side.

I'm in the ER, waiting for CT results. It seems likely I have a(?) kidney stone(s?) They gave me Toradol, which dropped the pain from an 8 or 9 (my 10 is a gallbladder attack) down to a 1 or 2.

If it's a kidney stone, the size will determine whether or not I get to go home & pound water, or get admitted.

@theether @Hex I think if you already have sugar and dish washing liquid around, and the combo works, a separate single-use product isn't more appropriate. There's a cleaning product in the US called SoftScrub. It's a very mildly abrasive detergent slurry. And perfectly mimicked by making a paste of baking soda and dish washing liquid. Because that's how these things work, I'm positive some woman working in her home in the early 1970s came up with the idea, which the Clorox company heard about and "improved on." To sell more things.

@NinjaNia We had an extremely smart cat for about five years before I walked into the kitchen one day and found him standing on the counter licking the butter. The "Oh, shit, the jig is up," expression on his face was hilarious. Until that day, we just thought he was very polite. Yes, we did get a butter dish with a lid.

@forestfern@mastodon.social IANAG. Things I remember from conversations with friends who are:

Deer won't jump a fence they can't see over or through. And they don't like predator urine. Have dogs visit, or use urine from an omnivorous human. I don't know if house cats' urine smells enough like lynx & cougar to deter deer.

@realn2s @corbden Ours doesn't. I long ago got sick of having to buy a new toaster every 12-18 months, and it didn't matter whether the one being replaced was a bare bones $15 toaster, or a fancy-schmancy $50 toaster with a setting to floss the cat. We've had the same toaster oven for.. 20ish? years. A bit bigger footprint, l but so, so worth the extra counter space.

@cmconseils Absolutely. And they do. Two cats ago, the adult cat was asked where the kitten was. He walked over to the side table with a floor-length tablecloth in a corner between two heating vents, looked up at the person asking, then looked pointedly at the table.
