Pasta with olive oil, onions, garlic, black pepper, and a pinch of herbs for dinner. My old TV somehow began automatically muting commercials on every streaming service. How? No idea. Why? Who cares, all the pie holes have been shut. Was able to enable my old wifi scanner & successfully run a test scan. Tomorrow will be an old photo album. #3GoodThings#ThreeGoodThings

Pleased with myself that I mowed the lawn last night because of incoming rain. After I finished, showered, and sat down for a late dinner, the weather report changed: no rain this weekend. This morning: rain is back on for Saturday. Scattegoric* weather tells me Fall is here. *Word? Probably not; feeling? Yes. #random #words #weather

Reruns of old games shows including the large eyeglasses, colorful patterned blouses, & men's broad shirt collars. #Nostalgia Family, especially, Mom and my little ol' dog. It's been commonplace these days to think about how thankful I am to have them. ❤️ Looking forward to my bed & pillows. Always a good thing. #3GoodThings#ThreeGoodThings

Today, in the bread aisle, I met a Belgian Malinois named Lucian. He leaned against me and was genuinely interested in my existence. Lucian just may be ALL THREE good things later on tonight. #Dogsofmastodon Contender for all #3GoodThings

A long restorative nap. Maybe too long ... nah. Peanut M&Ms. Just a few. Had a phone interview last Friday & a written interview last night. Next up: a video panel interview later this week (it all sounds very promising). I hope it's everything that I think it's going to be because I'm looking forward to this one. As a cautionary person though, I'm not holding my breath, but I keep thinking, gosh, wouldn't it be nice? #3GoodThings

#3GoodThings Last night I slept in my bed for the first time since last Tuesday. It felt so good. I slept like a fossilized log.* A cheap, frozen chicken pot pie. Reminded me of my childhood. I'm not going to make them a habit though. A nice visit from my cousin. We talked of painting, sculpting clay, astronomy, etc. Our conversation stimulated my creative brain cells. *Hit a wall. Returned to tiredness, thick in the head, & having some dull pain. Time to embrace rest again. And ice.

Italian ice from Philly (i can't remember the name) has been a lifesaver for me. Refreshing, comforting, soothing my belly. Strawberry Lemonade. A big nap. The kind that leaves you disoriented when you return to earth. The quiet hum from an oscillating fan keeping me cool while I'm marooned on this couch. #3GoodThings

#3GoodThings Rediscovered Gilmore Girls Fresh water & air cleaners Home. Being back home. Home. Home. Home.

Chippie the chipmunk, or as I call him, Art. Reminds me of my uncle, Art. #nature #chipmunk

#3GoodThings early edition Steamed broccoli. Yesterday wasn't enough, I just ate a huge bowl of steamed broccoli along with a piece of warmed naan bread. So good. The yard was conquered early even though it became hot & humid right out of the gate. Grocery shopping, car washed & filled, and now, a nap. Hoping it's of the massive nap variety.

Another #3GoodThings Talking through stress and worry with my mom. After all these years, mom still has great insight. Talking through stress and worry with you on here. Your objective perspective helps me think more deeply. I'm grateful. Hugs. For the big baby here, me, from Mom. We're all we have now so we hang on more dearly to one another.

#3GoodThings Completed a lot of telephone calls and sent emails to a gazillion places that I've had on my to-do list. The usual day-to-day living stuff. Don't say this too loudly *whispers* I have an informal meeting/interview tomorrow. Not sure if it's what I want but I'll ask questions & will see if this is it. Apples & bananas. I definitely had my share today.

#3GoodThings Pineapple pudding yellow cake with whipped cream on top. Ice cold. Over two hours. Is that a nap or a sleep? I took an early afternoon nap-eep? Sleap? Whatever it was, it was wonderful. Music. I was all over the place. A sample: L7, The Runaways, The Donnas, Babes in Toyland, Marian HIll, Lana Del Rey, Boz Scaggs. . .

@xinicit@beige.party That's about right. As long as Teddy was mangy.

@mlanger@mastodon.world It's so awkward to have a splint, let alone your pointing finger splint. That has to be especially annoying when trying to do a lot of things without involving it. I hope it resolves itself quickly.

@mlanger@mastodon.world Oh definitely. That is a big concern. I would feel that way, too. They maybe could have given you an epi? while ruling out other things? It's all very peculiar.

@mlanger@mastodon.world What a bizarre affliction. Sounds like an allergic reaction to Barnacle Bob. Hmm. I'm in no way a medical expert, I only grew up watching Emergency! and wished I had the sultry voice of Julie London. Sure hope someone has some insight and treatment for that hand.

@TheZorse@hear-me.social Thank you for your well wishes. Much needed and appreciated!

@TheZorse@hear-me.social Post surgery discomfort last night and today. Minor misery. More rest needed I guess.

@mlanger@mastodon.world Probably the most solid (ha!) sleep I've had in I don't know when. Highly Recommend. May fossilized log sleep be in your near future. ✨

@mlanger@mastodon.world So true, Maria! I'm a big NO to FB & its associates! Like @lydiaschoch@mastodon.social I dread encountering businesses that use FB as their only webpage for their business. I can't see the FB page plus I prefer looking for an actual webpage the company uses however minimally developed.

@mdwyer@mastodon.social Ridiculous. Never will I understand why emergency services uses FB.

@elaterite@mastoart.social Hear! Hear! I concur with Bob. @NorcalGma2@sfba.social

@Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt This is Phenomenal.

@MikeyU@gardenstate.social Major Yikes! (just like your wife). Then again, it's a good sign that you have snakes to remove rodents. One year I enjoyed watching a snapping turtle dig & lay her eggs. It was in a rather public spot so I worried about the little ones. This year, I finally spotted her again, on the shore in a more wooded area. I'm a little happy that people won't find her & her eggs but I won't be able to see the progress. Oh well.

#3GoodThings I got to watch TCM Turner Classic Movies for a couple of days. Oh how I miss having cable only for TCM #tcmparty Simple things like washing hair & clean clothes. Good people. Friendly, helpful, caring. I need more around me. ❤️

#3GoodThings Sitting outside in the early afternoon sunshine while picking at a newspaper crossword puzzle. Sweet, sour vinegar pickles/cucumbers. Yum. Watering the flowers, plants, and such and washing out & filling the birdbath. It's a relaxing, quiet, comforting task.

#3GoodThings #ThreeGoodThings Enjoying a fizzy black cherry Fresca while blurting out my own guesses to the clues on Password Plus. Buzzr airs 4 episodes each night. This qualifies as a good thing but stressful -- a stressful good thing: two jobs competing for my selection. One is in interview stage; one is in hiring stage. Making a list of pros/cons as to one or the other. Homemade mashed potatoes. I made a huge kettle that will last for a few days. Ever fry your mashed potatoes?

#3GoodThings #ThreeGoodThings Took a long multi-county very early morning drive with my coffee. On the drive, had a big cry at the graves of my dad and brother (first solid like that since '21 & '24). Guess I needed to cut loose the massive pent-up tension. Watched multiple people with cameras on tripods each working on taking photos of dahlias while enjoying a breakfast biscuit. Honestly could have sat there all day daydreaming about moving to this little active town.

#3GoodThings #ThreeGoodThings Sci-fi film tonight: Linoleum (2022) Jim Gaffigan, Rhea Seehorn (I love Rhea; Jim's a good straight actor). My dog coming to me asking for some of mom's pizza that she won't share so we both tippy-toe into the kitchen & I steal a piece of pizza to share with my little dog. My dog is so cleaver and pushy. We won't be telling mom. Nostalgia for warm summer nights, no school, no responsibilities, hanging out with friends after dark. Peaceful. Where'd those days go?

#3GoodThings #ThreeGoodThings So glad I revisited/opened my Plum Village app tonight. Feelings of calm. Listening to Thich Nhat Hanh speak. Tonight's Title: Have I Got A Home? Blackberry Citrus Fresca. Zero calories. Plenty of fizzy flavor. Water. Bed. Blankets. Nighttime. May be my favorite. #buddhism#breathe

#3GoodThings The streaming channel: Alfred Hitchcock Presents because of its calm presentation of well-written stories that I can either watch or listen to while recooperating. Warm, gluten-free penne pasta with diced tomatoes and a smidgen of olive oil. Cool breeze pushing the smoke and humidity away.

#3GoodThings Pillows. A room entiely made of pillows would be even better. Fans. For their coolness and soothing sound. Makes sleeping more comfortable. My little dog. She follows behind me on my indoor walking schedule.

Julio's Corn Chips [dot] com -- Best corn chips I've had in 20+ years. Thanks Julio for making it this far north from Texas. Mmm... Rewatched Basic Instinct (Michael Douglas & Sharon Stone). It's a great movie even if some of the overzealous cursing trying to be shocking now seems a little corny to me...as well as MD's butt My 3 1/2 hour afternoon nap was amazing. #3GoodThings#flavor#filmnoir

#3GoodThings I bought some new bed pillows. Stay tuned. There's a 50/50 shot that I'll be well-rested and happy tomorrow, or, on the flip, my head will be on upside down, & I'll have to walk down the stairs like Linda Blair. I bought a new curling iron for my medium-long strawberry-red hair. Test drove it tonight. Whoa, my gray streaks shine like a comic book superhero. Ha! Mustard Potato Salad with tons of black pepper.

#3GoodThings#ThreeGoodThings Grocery shopping done early this morning. Picked up Amy's Pad Thai and Veetee's herb lime for those lazy days and those physically exhausting days. Fall/winter vaccines have been administered. Dill peanuts, the couch, and an old goofy horror comedy: Full Moon High with Adam Arkin. First-time watch, won't hold my breath that it'll be good. #movies #food

#3GoodThings Spent an extra amount of meditative time watering the plants, scrubbing & filling the birdbaths. Mom and I went out & had a great lunch AND loved talking painting, drawing, techniques, mediums, etc. with the waiter. Inspiring to keep dabbling and creating.

#3GoodThings ##ThreeGoodThings Rice noodles. They're so good. New to me, too. Job offer: post office. Pondering it until tomorrow night. Any thoughts, opinions about delivery positions with them are welcomed. My dog's determination in conquering mom's living room blockade. Each day I come home, my little terrier is in the off-limits room, barking out the window at me upon my arrival back home. *she has plenty of other windows to look out of, but wants these windows. Mom needs to give up.

#3goodthimgs #ThreeGoodThings Learned to not care. Still have post-surgery belly zaps, I planned to stain Mom's deck in late Oct. early Nov. She insisted it be completed tonight. Just finished slapping on stain, in the dark, without using my perfection tendencies. I gave up, didn't care, & it felt great. F it. Tylenol & an ice pack. Tomorrow, I return to the town I think I want to move to & this time, hope to spend a little more time. Why hurry home, it's just mowing that awaits my return.

One big fat nap. Set aside the world, stretched out, and swan-dived in to a late afternoon nap. Held my little dog while singing Happy Birthday to her. She's 17 now and still hates every bit of my singing. Cool, fall nights with the windows open and fans pushing the cool breeze around thr room. № 4: talking with kind, friendly people on here. #3GoodThings#ThreeGoodThings

#3GoodThings#threegoodthings Thought I won $45 on scratchies. Turns out, I won $50 on scratchies, then remembered I had a drawing ticket from over a week ago. Another 10 bucks. Total investment: $30, profit: $30. Then, I bagged my groceries & checkout lady gave me $5 off my grocery bill. Total ahead: $35.00. Applied for a job promotion at current new job while continued & completed the application process for another job offer. Massive nap so large I'm still not refreshed completely. Whew!

#3GoodThings The 1963 movie X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes. It's so stupid it's an absolute riot as to how stupid it is. Ray Miland has X-ray eyes. At first he only sees through clothing. Perv. Later he sees injuries through skin. And then there's Don Rickles as a carnival barker? WTH? I love it. Coyote. Up close. Saw a large coyote mid-day crossing the road, on a mission to places unknown. Shortbread cookies. So mild, so buttery.

#3goodthings All's well. Follow-up post-surgery appointment went well. I can now begin increasing my mobility and light lifting using common sense. Guess that means I'll be mowing the lawn next week. Opted for a movie afternoon & evening. First-time watch of Cocaine Bear and M3GAN. Yes, I opted for the absurd (they're so much fun). Warm bread & butter with a bowl of chili. #movies #random

The garage was gutted, sanitized, mopped, and reorganized. *whew* Finished. I admitted to myself today that I really don't want holiday decorations ever again. Boxed up and gifted. The few ornaments I kept are the handblown glass bulbs Mom used to paint her idyllic winter village scenes. They're truly special. I will hang those on a small tabletop tree just for me. Maple Walnut ice cream. It's difficult to find sometimes, so finding it was a real treat. #3goodThings
