@stephanie@ottawa.place @APBBlue@thepit.social @NorcalGma2@sfba.social I found freshly grown local Napa cabbage at the farmer's market this weekend, so it was time to make a fresh batch of kimchi, as well as pickling/fermenting some of the excess of cucumbers I have. Because I want to keep the probiotic value of #kimchi, I don't usually cook it. I love it as a side with eggs or rice. This batch also has some of the chard that's fresh, along with daikon, green onions, carrot, and apple. I love mine spicy, so extra pepper powder.

@CTHW@mstdn.ca @uxMark@cosocial.ca Canada only comprises about 0.5% of the world's total population, so that 2% statistic is just disgusting. Canadians are causing 4 times as many GHG emissions as folks in other parts of the world, AS WELL AS supplying the O&G that other people pollute the planet with!! I'm so disgusted with Carney at this point.

@kimlockhartga@beige.party I know that many people shop there because of lower prices and greater availability, but you can count on #Walmart to incorporate all of the worst and most predatory practices. It's a good time to explore alternatives for food shopping and medications. I'm really appreciating my neighbourhood #FarmersMarket for fresh and locally grown fruit and vegetables, as well as some grains and legumes.

@stephanie@ottawa.place @APBBlue@thepit.social @NorcalGma2@sfba.social I'm at a point where #fermentation is a real thing for me. I make both #kimchi and sauerkraut, preferring my homemade versions a lot to the ones you can buy. I've made yogurt for at least 15 years, and I add a capsule of probiotics when I start the batch. I make a variety of pickles with the leftover kimchi brine, and I've made fermented ginger beer. Experiment with a range of products, making sure that they all contain live cultures. I don't really like kombucha

The Devil's Judge (very mild spoilery hints)
@writerchristina@cupoftea.social Haha, I don't think I've done 5 back-to-back with him, but I've probably watched that many this year, maybe more. It's super fun to find actors who are marvellous to watch, no matter what they do!! I loved Kill Me, Heal Me, and enjoyed Traditional Wife. I think he'd be great in historicals, but it doesn't look like he's done many. He certainly has action skills, which he uses in #TheDevilJudge. #kdrama #JiSung #지성

The Devil's Judge (very mild spoilery hints)
@writerchristina@cupoftea.social This was the show that started me on my #JiSung quest! He's delightful here as probably a bad guy, and I find that he does so well in a wide range of roles! I'm loving him in #TheApartmentJob, and I recently watched #SecretLove with him and #HwangJungEum another actor I adore. I'll have to double back and try #TheJudgeReturns again, because folks enjoyed it. Great acting is delightful! #kdrama#지성

@liztai@hachyderm.io @writerchristina@cupoftea.social I really enjoyed #TheInterestOfLove, a relatively recent drama for its messiness! I love a lot of the technical aspects of the newer dramas, but some of the older ones also have fabulous wardrobes and styling. I guess that I enjoy going back and forth between the old and the new. I also like having upcoming episodes to anticipate. #kdrama

@bob_zim@infosec.exchange @kimlockhartga@beige.party Yes, definitely. I subscribed to a CSA vegetable bag for the last 3 summers, and I was really pleased with what I received. My problem was that it was hard to get creative enough, fast enough, to use everything I received. The same farm has a large booth at my market where I can pick and choose according to my needs. Roadside stands are fabulous when you live in an area that still has them.

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org I've spent the last couple of days going through my account and deleting images. It's already a private account with very little activity for several years. I don't see any setting that is "sharing and reuse". My sharing setting was already turned off. I know that I went through my FB account several years ago and deleted all of the posts that expressed political opinions. I'll need to weed everything out some more.

@commonst@social.vivaldi.net I lightly tapped not one, but TWO luxury trucks this year. Paid the $1200 for truck #1, but I let my insurance pay the $2100 for truck #2!! I really don't think that people should be able to use insurance for cosmetic damage to vehicles, given those kinds of costs. However, damage to the fender is possible with a rear-end.

@LifeTimeCooking@mastodon.au Brussels sprouts and miso sound delightful! I've defrosted pork tenderloin, which I often cook with char siu seasonings. The only problem is that today is #yogurt day and my #InstantPot will be occupied with that for most of the day. It will be too hot to use the oven later today. Perhaps I'll experiment with the air fryer today. Your dumplings look delightful.

@FtRupertTed@mstdn.ca Provided I find the freezer space for it, I far prefer freezer jam, which uses far less sugar, and which doesn’t require additional heat during the hottest time of the year. I did strawberry jam last week, and I plan to pick haskaps with my grandkid on Tuesday. He was so delighted to eat jam made with berries he’d picked a couple of years ago.
