Up early- yes
Parkrun breakfast - yes
Barcode- yes
Running? Er no, believing the weather forecast that this could be very wet.
Pathetic but true.

@Florapis@toot.wales Sounds somewhere between wonderful and a complete nightmare. I tend to suspect the latter, but that is just me. Or have I watched too many episodes of Death Valley.

@ChrisMayLA6@mastodon.me.uk @artnacrea@mastodon.ie @elCelio@mastodon.uno Had a long debate over lunch at work over where the north/south begins. One person from South Shields insisted Sheffield was in the deep south. We then all went into a meeting with a firm which was sensible enough until the guy's final sentence. "If you have any further questions you can contact our northern office in Aylesbury." Uh.

@christineburns@mastodon.green @ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us Rory certainly had a real hissy fit. Why? Perhaps because he sees a serious challenge to the economic orthodoxy of the last 45 years. He and Campbell only see the monetary policy driven by the Treasury that serves them and their peer group. Polanski dares to point out that for 95% of the population it is just stagnation and austerity.

Impressed with Great Britain through 7 innings. It all fell apart in the end. Pitching depth is clearly going to be an issue.
We will lose to USA, but Italy and Brazil should be competitive.

@WTL Having posted this today, I seem to have injured my normally good left calf by just walking backwards. All a bit grim, so looks like no #ParkRun this week.

An inspiration to so many of us. Unique and wonderful.

I had never heard of Yachtgate until today. The web of entitlement has been active for a long time, and they take us for fools. Both main political parties are up to their armpits in it, fuelled by Russia and Israel. Grim. #Yachtgate

@HelenLockhart@mastodon.scot I have been thinking about this recently. My conclusion is that this is an intentional policy to make us all isolated. The more divided we are, the easier we are to control and influence. I notice it most with banking. Most bank staff were friendly and chatty. Now it is all automated. In my bank last week on 1 of it's 3 open days, and customers were queuing out the door. We like to talk. Talking is good.

We have absolutely loved the Winter Olympics. The BBC coverage has been excellent, and the guys on commentary for the snowboarding etc a whole new world of enthusiasm. From the women's half-pipe "she opened the door of the Messchasmit bubblecar" what the hell does that mean. #WinterOlympics #BBC

Whilst we happily watch A place in the Sun, imagine the fuss in Parliament if in Somalia they watch A Place in the Drizzle.

Today we view a semi in Urmston, a district renowned for its drizzle and dull weather. Easy transport links to the ex-pat Somali community in central Manchester.

Our politicians would go crazy.
P.S. My auntie lived in Urmston in later life, no criticism intended.

In my whole life, I have never seen a goalkeeper substituted after 17mins except for injury. A really wild decision. If you pick him, you have got to stick with him.

Delighted that Great Britain beat Brazil in the World Baseball Classic thereby qualifying for the next tournament. Plenty of highlights and even held USA for a few innings.
Compared to USA and Japan lesser sides lack pitching depth, and also some of the catching has been modest.
For GB Nate Eaton was excellent and looks worth some game time at Boston this season.

However much I want Great Britain to beat USA, facing Skubal seems like the win odds are 0%. I hoped they would save him for Mexico.
In a more realistic world, I do think Brazil is winnable, and we can be competitive against Italy.

I'm sorry, but I do not believe Starmer. He knew exactly who Mandelson is when he appointed him.
Dear Prime Minister, did you appoint Mandelson? Why did you expect him to pass vetting given his financial and personal history?

The whole sordid episode shows Starmer as a combination of lies and incompetence. He must have known what he was doing.

I'm afraid Labour only have themselves to blame for the disaster in the Senedd election.
They appointed a leader who came too close to being a puppet of Starmer first and First Minister second. This may have been perception more than reality, but they knew that this was the perception and were unwilling to change it for fear of upsetting the person who was a significant contribution to losing the election.

Question for Scottish viewers. Where does the north of Scotland begin? There is the borders and south. The central belt. The Highlands and north. But where does the north begin, does it depend on where you start, so a person in Glasgow has a different answer to one in Inverness. I am thinking particularly about Perth and Dundee, which to me feel north of the central belt, but not north.

#Baseball Sad to see Marcelo Mayer move from the #RedSox to the #Giants. Still believe that he can become an excellent player. However, he may be just another young talent whose body cannot handle his ability. See also Tristan Casas, and dare I say it, Roman Anthony. With both Mayer and Anthony, they seem to be out regularly for long periods with what are described as minor injuries. Casa is a completely different problem, and fear he may never recover fully.

Can't add to what has been said about Dolly Parton.
Wish others could see why she is admired by all and so many others are not.
If you can't follow Jesus maybe just be more like Dolly.

Rain, at last. The storm started at 7.15am. All cats back inside dry. My arm suitable scratched for helping them. First serious rain since June. Feels like a big relief.
