Winter sports need SNOW, not fossil fuels. Letting Eni sponsor the Winter Olympics is absurd. Oil and gas companies are melting the very conditions athletes depend on, then using the Games to greenwash their image. The International Olympic Committee should drop fossil fuel sponsors. https://earth.org/absurd-greenpeace-calls-out-winter-olympics-sponsorship-with-fossil-fuel-giant-eni/ #Oilympics #MilanoCortina2026 #WinterOlympics #MakePollutersPay

Late Season. The future of the mountains without snow. For decades, skiing has represented much more than a sport: it has been the economic and cultural engine of many alpine communities. Entire valleys have built their own identity and development around lifts and the promise of a winter season that each year brought tourists, work, and life to the mountains. However, today, this balance is extremely fragile. Due to climate change, winters are shorter and more unpredictable, natural snow often becomes a memory, and many ski resorts – especially at lower elevations – struggle to remain open. With rising costs, artificial snowmaking, and new climatic uncertainties, the model that for decades underpinned winter tourism is entering a phase of profound transformation, and the glossy image offered by the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics is of little use. Through the voices of climatologists, mountain experts, local administrators, ski instructors, and tourist operators, the documentary "End of Season" tells what it means to live and work in a territory that is changing faster than one can imagine. Between resistance, adaptation, and new possibilities, the reportage tells the different approach of some alpine resorts all grappling with the same question: how to reinvent the mountains when snow is no longer a certainty? #Milan #WinterOlympicshttps://www.lastampa.it/torino/2026/03/11/video/fine_stagione_il_futuro_della_montagna_senza_neve-15539845/

#HilaryKnight, #USA #WomensHockey: "Now I have to sit in front of you and explain someone else's behavior. It's not my responsibility" I could explain to you the drama, but I won't Because that defeats her point Why, at the pinnacle of her team's success at the #Olympics #WinterOlympics #WinterOlympics2026, is the focus on anything other than her team? Why steal their thunder? Why subcede it to someone else's toxicity? A common problem in this world #women #womenssports #sports #trump

We have absolutely loved the Winter Olympics. The BBC coverage has been excellent, and the guys on commentary for the snowboarding etc a whole new world of enthusiasm. From the women's half-pipe "she opened the door of the Messchasmit bubblecar" what the hell does that mean. #WinterOlympics #BBC
