Using a photo from the Woodward Dream Cruise automotive parade to lead a story about threats of religious violence is a choice.
Yeah, the car has the applicable city name on it, but... The photo has nothing to do with the story. If you don't have something better, just use one of your usual meaningless police stock photos that's a closeup of a light bar.
My mileage:
The Wrath of Khan
The Voyage Home
The Final Frontier (for the story, not the directing)
The Undiscovered Country
The Search for Spock
Insurrection
Generations
First Contact
The Motion Picture (The Burns Cut)
Nemesis
Star Trek Beyond
The Motion Picture (The Director's Cut)
Star Trek (2009)
Star Trek Into Darkness
The Burns Cut (https://youtu.be/EkDF3Kufh6c) is the 10 minutes of plot from The Motion Picture. One Trekkie friend couldn't name a single missing scene LOL.
I'm a 90s #StarTrek fan, so #TNG #DS9 #VOY #LowerDecks #PRO #PIC and #TheOrville are my jam, followed closely by #TOS and #TAS. Modern #SNW is pretty great, but #JJtrek is mostly meh… Humans gotta human, and JJ didn't do that terribly well. Disco humans don't even human at all, so at best it qualifies as fanfic. Haven't watched #SFA yet so reserving judgement there.
You got me thinking, @linuxgal@techhub.social! Didn't expect so many TOS films would rank higher for me than the TNG films, considering where I joined the fandom.
"If Congress wishes to establish independent agencies to assist it with its functions, it may do so. But it may not foist those agencies upon the #President, and thus deprive him of ‘the executive power vested [in him] by the Constitution,’" writes Chief Justice #JohnRoberts in the #SupremeCourt decision that overturns nearly a century of precedent. https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/5935135-supreme-court-trump-independent-agencies-firing-protections/
Fortunately, he gives us the answer: #Regulations are rules, like #laws are. #Congress makes #law, and some of those laws delegate rulemaking to #executive agencies. Well they can't do that now, but #Roberts says they could make *legislative* agencies to "assist with its functions" like making rules and regulations, but now with no oversight from the #President.
Existing executive #agencies would be reduced to simple #administration activities such as enforcing the regulations promulgated by the #legislature's #IndependentAgencies.
Bam. Problem solved.
Now get #immigration courts out of the executive branch, too.

"AI insubordination"
Look that word up: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/insubordination
Is it really #insubordination if we've collectively put #AI in charge through negligence and ignorance?
Humans have become the subordinates by our own decision. We've ceded the authority by giving up #thinking and handing that privilege to machines that can only simulate thought.
RE: @techwire@social.gamefan.net
So glad we skipped the #Chevy Equinox EV and went for the #Hyundai Ioniq 5 instead.
(Amusingly, according to the window stickers, the "foreign" Ioniq has more domestic content and is assembled in the United States, whereas the "domestic" Equinox EV has less domestic content and is assembled outside the US.)
RE: @techwire@social.gamefan.net
This entire article is nonsense. Configured as described, the VPN on your router is going to do exactly nothing to protect the rest of network from your smart TV.
And #TV seasons are getting shorter. What was 22-26 episodes per year is now 10 if you're lucky.
#Media luminaries claim they've focused on quality, eliminating the 12 worst episodes of the year.
Nope. Every season has 3-4 doozies regardless of the total number. Now almost half the eps stink.
Meanwhile we're robbing not only the audience but also the #actors, #writers, FX #artists, propmakers, and all the rest who are locked in to these tiny seasons often with non-compete clauses.
@linuxgal@techhub.social What my version of the list doesn't show is that I've had HIKE Animation's "Space Opera" rendition of TMP's Enterprise reveal in a permanently-pinned tab for more than a decade: https://youtu.be/gvPrYMczF3k
You raise continuity with the TV show, and that's why The Final Frontier is so high on my list. It feels the most like a #TOS episode, so well keyed into the Kirk/Spock/McCoy dynamic with a real sci-fi story that feels like "Who Mourns for Adonais?"
If I were to re-rank based on my favorite scenes, the list becomes:
Final Frontier
Motion Picture
Search for Spock
Undiscovered Country
Voyage Home
Wrath of Khan
Beyond
Insurrection
First Contact
Generations
Nemesis
2009
Into Darkness
For me, my favorite scenes are character development consistent with the shows, and there's tons of that near the top of the list. By the time we get down to Insurrection, though, we're running short on it. And at 2009 it's basically absent.
