#WritersCoffeeClub 6: What might an inattentive reader miss in your work? I hide secrets and stuffs in a lot of my poems and stories. But prob the one ppl miss the most BC they're too busy feeling spicy is the unhealthy coping stuffs Dio (me) has in "Interlude in the Lower City." What is your cure for getting out of a creative slump? That's usually my brain's way of asking for a pause. I look around me: what's going on in my life? Stress? Worries? Grief? Anger? Unresolved problems soaking up the energy? Show the ol' noggin some compassion and let it have the break it's asking for. Just don't overdo it. #writersofmastodon #author #writers

@GrahamDowns@mastodon.africa Ones I've been getting quite a lot of lately, as the ones that say something like , "I tried to post a review on Amazon but couldn't. Is your book on Good Reads?" First could I sent the GoodReads link, and within 20 minutes a "review" had appeared, compiled by an AI bot from the blurb, and full of fulsome praise. The temptation to use a different, non-fedi social to share my writing and poetry and thoughts is pretty tempting sometimes. Like, okay. I don't write smutty spice, or poetry, or whatev else for money, or to build a brand, or to get ppl to sub to my stuffs, but IS nice when ppl read and comment. Mostly tho, I (and other indie writers I guess) are invisible. Lol, I guess the writing bot likes my stuffs? I've tried Archive Of Our Own but at least my experience was that if u aren't writing fanfics, u are invisible. Maybe I was doing it wrong? There's Tumblr, Bluesky, I guess?
