Black autistic manic pixie dream #blerd. I took an online test that said I was 45% hot and 100% crazy, which is highly accurate. Four degrees and boobs bigger than my brains. Slut but not for you. Bimbo in the smartest way. Angry Black woman. Less damsel than fly, but still a damsel, and not a fly.

Linus Torvalds has never been a good guy. This is who he always was. This is not a fucking surprise. The man was sending the most wretched and hateful messages to women programmers in the 90s when all they wanted to do was help. I know, I’m one of them. The fact that people react to this shit with surprise is just… what the fuck?

@tanamuse@blackqueer.life The word “hack” is so confusing now. My twins were out with friends and one called me and asked me to hack into the other’s phone and send their Apple Cash to her. I said I could just lend them money but couldn’t hack into their phone. She said “I’ll give you the passcode.” I said it’s just that I have no way to do that. “Just tell them to send it,” I said. “They don’t have their phone, that’s why e we need you to do it.” “What?! Where is their phone!” “They left it in the bathroom.” “OMG what bathroom?!” “Probably ours, I don’t know, maybe the guest bathroom?” “Wait …here? Their phone is here?” “Yes! That’s why we want you to hack into it!” “OMG sweetie that’s not hacking that’s just using their phone! 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️”

"Hearing voices" happens to *almost everyone* at least a few times in their life, but people are often scared to admit they had a harmless, benign voice-hearing experience, or they even deny to themselves that it counted, because the phenomenon is associated with being extremely crazy and dangerous. For example: have you ever *sworn* that you heard someone call your name, but no-one did? You can point what direction the voice came from in real physical space, but no-one's there? This happens to almost everyone at some point. That's "hearing voices." It's more likely to happen when you're stressed, tired, or really zoned out. Hearing someone calling for you is very common, but you also might swear you just heard your long-dead grandmother say her comforting catchphrase or your worst ex snarl something hurtful. The fact that you might hear the voice of someone you know is dead, or get the sense that it's a powerful benevolent or malevolent entity's voice, leads many people to spiritual explanations. But it's just your own subconscious grabbing the microphone and noisy, messy brain signals cohering into something you can make sense of at the conscious level. If voices repeatedly belittle you, threaten you, or urge you to do harmful things, you do need to get outside help to address the inner low-level conflicts that manifest in this high-level distress. But there are millions of people in the world who routinely hear harmless voices, and it's just another facet of the messy human experience. Many people can even sustain dialogue with their voices and find it a helpful way to sort out their thoughts. And here's a very modern, technocentric metaphor that may help explain why voices can be so nonsensical or disconnected from what you were consciously thinking. Have you ever seen the video game "Hey You, Pikachu"? It has a very simple form of microphone voice control. To do voice recognition with so little processing power, it just takes anything you say and matches it to whichever of about a hundred game-related words the waveform resembles most. So you can say "Carrie's scared of bees" and it will hear "Caterpie". The subconscious-to-voice wiring is doing something similar: compressing an infinite space of wibbly thought-signals into finite conscious constructs, and the meaning might get rather distorted in the process. It doesn't mean you're "crazy" if the result is sometimes rather strange or embarrassing. Wow, I'm on a psychological longpost roll...

Another friend is getting divorced too, and we got pretty close texting about things. I left a present of three small figurines for her and her two children on her porch with a card. Just normal penguin pebble stuff. She said she was not comfortable with courtship rituals and was not looking to have someone court her right now so she doesn’t want me to do that. What? You’re fucking straight? Why the fuck would I be courting you? So I’m just a fucking dude now? I fucking hate that I can’t be nice and loving toward a woman as a friend without her thinking I’m trying to fuck her because they projected maleness onto me. Like my entire life was that bullshit and I’m so fucking sick of it. Now I have to deal with that from fucking straight women STILL projecting maleness onto me. Fuuuck!

RE: https://kinkycats.org/@aces_funhouse/117009124296738501 Okay, I have a wild response to this. I’m autistic and can’t figure out pickup lines, but I’m a manic pixie autistic, and so am very familiar with saying the most absolutely ridiculous shit. So I actually have a note on my phone where I am storing Tyla’s Comically Unhinged Lesbian Pickup Lines. For example: “Wow you have a lot of tattoos! I bet I have more tattoos that you, but there’s only one way to make sure I’m not lying.” And “Can I read your palm? [*make up ridiculous shit about how pretty they are while stroking their palm gently with one finger]…wait…I’ve never seen something like this before… this line here says that your palm is gonna grab my breast …can that be true?” And “Are you a nerd? Because I’m trying to see if I can fit a square into my round hole.” And “What would you think about me if I said I always match my nail polish with my panties [not wearing nail polish.]” (thank you @WrenArcher@beige.party for that one!)

I’ve spent 20 years in a house of white and off-white because my ex hated bright colors. And I couldn’t decorate anything because I “have no style” or I “don’t understand colors” or I “make things feel chaotic and messy.” My friend walked into my bedroom once and said “You’re not in this room at all.” That shit is changing.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@gwynnion/116976116252877834 What that “easier” assumption misses is that closeted trans lesbian still (often, not always) treat women as “other women” while seeing ourselves as women. My entire experience was men (and women too) telling me I interacted with women “wrong,” thought about women “wrong,” treated women “wrong.” Because so much of male interaction with women is from a DeBeauvoiresque Second Sex perspective, where women are objectified, classified, sexualized, othered, seconded, etc. From the outset, even as a small child, I could not see women that way and refused to act with them that way. This meant that I met a lot of violence because when a male-shaped person is in male spaces and supports women and femininity, identifies with feminity, promotes femininity, as an equality, it is A Problem. But it’s not just a problem from men, who reject it with violence and mockery, it’s a problem from many cis women, who see it as a failure. The problem of the boy-shaped trans girl is that you are expected to be a man, while not wanting to be a man, and simultaneously criticized for never being man enough. And all your interactions with women (because they are almost universally straight women) are tainted by this. “Trans lesbians had it easy” is so far from the actual trans experience and nonsensical that you might as well say “trans lesbians had it purple.”

@gwynnion@mastodon.social
People sometimes say that trans lesbians had it "easy" because they were read as "straight boys" and that WILDLY misunderstands the trans experience. The femmy kid who likes other girls is still going to be bullied, attacked, and subjected to "corrective rape" by her male peers because she is still feminine and gender nonconforming. A lot of anti-queer violence is just gender violence.

@gvwilson@mastodon.social I got through question 17, but found many of the questions written to vague to answer with assurance and the first 17 took me 30 minutes to describe/qualify my answers. It’s impossible for me to complete, unless we are focusing solely on web-based using agile/scrum methodology. Some questions even include Scrum in the question itself. But that ignores a lot of software development, and as someone who developed and managed teams building safety-critical systems under DO-178 with a regulated waterfall process and mixed sensor arrays and build environments, the survey itself excludes me. Like one question is specifically about Infrastructure as Code, but those frameworks don’t even exist in many of the systems I worked on. Maybe I’m just too autistic and/or not the software demographic you want. I mean here is my answer to question #1: You have not clearly defined the terms. Are we thinking about group performance across peopl or individual performance across time? Another relationship? Do we have normalization for experience? Code understanding? Etc? We have a quantitative value of improvement (15%), but a qualitative metric (“better”). Without defining better quantitatively, this cannot be measured. Is better equal to faster? “faster to write?” “Faster to run?” “Faster to compile?” “Faster to troubleshoot?” “Faster to refactor?” “Faster to retrieve a real-time signal from an aircraft transponder and decode it, calculating the travel time and aircraft position, and returning a guidance signal via antenna?” Or is better equal to more lines of code? Or fewer lines of code? Or better abstracted? Or more modular? The measurement and the metric are too unclear to answer. Perhaps a single junior developer, working more efficiently, can only improve by some arbitrary metric by 15%, while a senior developer experienced with the codebase and compiler could improve that metric by 100%. I feel like we need to think more closely about the real core of the question we are trying to answer and reframe this with more focus.

@barbra@social.vivaldi.net I find the statement ‘Psychology is already full of loosey-goosey "junk science"’ both ignorant and offensive. As an anthropologist, I know that poor survey design is a problem anyone can suffer from, and it’s offensive to me that you would reject an entire field based on one survey. I think the survey suffers from fundamental flaws in its design. That doesn’t make the fundamental goal of the surgery any less valid. Certainly no than an application that was built with user interface flaws. Saying code “either works or it doesn’t” is far more ignorant and naive than a survey that limits demographic based on wording. @gvwilson@mastodon.social
