RE: https://floss.social/@kde/117322549131682125 This article claims that #Framework has severed its relationship with #DHH and #Omarchy. I was unaware of this. Questions I could use help answering if you know anything: 1) Can anybody point at any evidence that Framework has actually done that? I'm glad to hear it if it's true, but saying it doesn't make it so. 2) Remind me, was there anything else we were upset about regarding Framework, other than giving money to DHH and Omarchy and then being shitty about it when they were called out?

Nate Graham's first-hand, blow-by-blow account on what went down: https://pointieststick.com/2026/09/23/kde-and-ai-and-you-and-me/ Not to do the click-baitey thing, but some of the details my clarify some of the points. Please read through the whole thing carefully to better understand the situation and why what was done was done.

Speaking of boycotts, #Omarchy is an open-source Linux distribution created by David Heinemeier Hansson (#DHH), the coder behind Ruby on Rails. DHH has also been infected by the billionaire virus that turns rich white guys into white supremacists. His comments have been pretty vile, some verging on exterminationism. DHH is a Nazi, and Omarchy is a vibe-coded Nazi bar. But he’s not alone in that Nazi bar. You want a list of people who’ve given millions to the cause of this Nazi? I got you. https://omarchy.org/patrons/ Boycott Nazi supporters: #1Password#37Signals #alibabaCloud#Block #Cloudflare #Coinbase #Dell #DigitalOcean #Dropbox #Meta #OpenClaw#OpenAI #Sesame #Shopify #Stripe #TapTap And many, many more.

The Omarchy Linux distribution is currently ranked 15 on DistroWatch's download list. And the number is going up compared to the last ranking. We have a lot of work to do getting people to realize what they are supporting by downloading this garbage. #omarchy

#DHH's #Omarchy again This year I first heard of Gentoo Linux, and in my journey of learning about Gentoo I quickly discovered the YouTube channel "Mental Outlaw" which produces helpful Gentoo content. A few days ago, he made a video about Omarchy. My first reaction was displeasure before I noticed he doesn't shill (at least not so obviously) for Omarchy but dunks quite a bit on it. I'm still disappointed. Unlike others (such as NetworkChuck), he doesn't glorify Omarchy but points out all the technical issues, like the insecure Docker configuration, and the fact that it's entirely vibe-coded, etc. The first few minutes, before he dives into the many technical issues with Omarchy, he even describes the entire story with the (as far as I know, still non-existent) Omacom Foundation: that it's a bunch of fascist billionaires funding this project. He even shows the vile racist blog posts by DHH where DHH calls for "wolves to be shot" and "gypsies" to be deported, etc. He shows the StopOmarchy website. But, as a person of color himself, he then surprisingly(?) makes the mental gymnastics of saying, "politics don't interest me" and "yes, they all are fascists, but I don't care about that, I care only about Omarchy's technical issues". And then goes on to showcasing "AI" agents. I don't understand it. I don't understand people. Even those who seemed reasonable enough. Even those who see all issues and even point them out … but then make a hard turn, and give in to using "AI" agents and ignore the glaring fascism. With Gentoo being a niche distribution, there isn't so much content on YouTube about it. I used to enjoy watching "Mental Outlaw" for Gentoo content (for entertainment), but I cannot enjoy it anymore. The reason I became interested in Gentoo in the first place is because I want to escape from having to use systemd which has taken a grip on almost every Linux distribution. I hesitated to write this comment because—big news, another one shills for fascism. Will I write a comment for every single tech YouTuber? It obviously still needs to be said though: If you don't care about "politics" in 2026, you're a privileged "fuck you, I got mine" asshole. I cannot put it any different. #Linux #Gentoo #GentooLinux #fascism

I wish I needn't care about Omarchy or DHH. Maybe you're annoyed by now by all the posts about Omarchy. I mean, we get it: DHH recently discovered Linux after he got sick of Apple taking 30% of all his revenue, and as a narcissistic millionaire businessman he's naturally trying to make some bucks with his configuration files or at least increase his fame. We took a look at his so-called "distribution" and all it turned out to be is just Arch Linux with some shitty vibe-coded bash scripts on top. Okay, so what? We don't have to use Omarchy if we don't like it, so simply move on. Why continue obsessing over Omarchy or whether others like it? If I decided to install Arch on my machine after an evaluation of all Linux distributions, I wouldn't be obsessively reading about Ubuntu every day long after I already decided in favor of Arch. Also, if I decided for myself that my preference is NixOS, then what does it matter to me if other people have other preferences, and themselves prefer Fedora or Mint? Why still obsess over Omarchy? I believe this is a story about more than just "one person's dotfiles". One person's Linux configuration wouldn't attract close to 20 million USD and growing, even if it's a famous person. It's also not just some tax evasion scheme. What will really unfold here remains to be seen, but I believe what is happening here is that one of the loudest white-supremacist voices in the software industry is rallying behind him (in preparation for something awful) those executives and rich people who now don't fear consequences for a full mask-off fascist moment. They don't need 18 million USD to ensure the continued development of Hyprland. They are collecting money and are preparing for something else, something bigger than that, something bigger than saving peanuts in taxes, something awful to happen. I wish we needn't have to, but Omarchy is suspicious as hell and this is something we definitely need to continue monitoring. Someone here on Mastodon suggested this is a story an investigative journalist should dig into. I agree. #fascism #DHH #Omarchy

The fellowship of #omarchy are actually *nixing* the OS in the future (I think AI suggested that, while I was just thinking about distrojumping). I'm no expert but it seems a good development. Or is it bad for #nix? https://github.com/omacom/omarchy/commit/97a86af116b71ffd6b6dd0afc27cdefce5cacee2 #nixos #linux

I think, it's actually kinda funny that the #altRight #racist #OvertonWindow #Omarchy guy, DHH, collected 8(11?) million Vespuccistan bucks from several M|Billionairs, that will only BENEFIT our beloved virally licensed #FLOSS ecosystem. Even #Nazi money IS technically ALLOWED to use and contribute to #Linux and stuff, within the license - that's the actual deal. 😉 Sure, a few million bucks is a big deal - but it's not exactly a big deal - we all remain protected by our fave licences, right?!

I'd also be interested to know who exactly #Omarchy is for. Ricers who don't like ricing? What exactly is the angle here?

Earlier this week I unsubscribed from #1Password and moved to #Bitwarden... due to their donation of 300k to DHH's #Omarchy. I made sure to let them know about the reason, so that hopefully the company would notice those kind of decisions have an impact. Day one I got messages from their AI system. But today I got a response by a real human at 1Password (or so it appears). If you are curious about the company's official response to the backlash, check out the screenshot (and/or #AltText)
