#Ford #AppLink is a pretty cool protocol, even though it's officially discontinued. Turns out, there's nothing stopping you from spoofing an arbitrary "App ID" meaning you can get the permissions of the old version of the FordPass app. This includes making arbitrary OBD-II/UDS queries and getting live location data. Not really a user security issue, per se, since the user still has to approve turning on AppLink and allowing access to vehicle data... but still interesting. https://github.com/BlueOvalLabs/pyapplink

Novara Media | Ford Falsely Accuses Diabetic Worker of Stealing Cookie, Then Fires Him by Tom Midlane AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information. A diabetic Ford employee, 60‑year‑old Kurt Kromm, who had worked 11 years at the Kentucky Truck Plant, was falsely accused of stealing a $1.95 chocolate‑chip cookie from the plant’s snack kiosk and was terminated after supervisors summoned him and escorted him off the premises. Kromm said the payment screen initially rejected his transaction but succeeded on a second try, and he later provided bank‑screen shots confirming the purchase; Ford then invited him back, but he refused. He noted that he earned over $200,000 the previous year and spent $1,200 on canteen items, making the accusation implausible, while the Kentucky Truck Plant—one of Ford’s most profitable sites, generating $25 billion in 2023 revenue—remains a key producer of Super Duty, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator models. Ford’s spokesperson acknowledged that some cases may be handled differently and the company attempts to rectify such situations. #Anleitung #Ford #Escort #Suche :boostRequest:

Ford motor company... went all in on AI and it backfired, costing them billions. They've admitted they mistakenly thought that introducing AI and feeding it their design requirements... that it would spit out good designs. They're now desperately rehiring hundreds of engineers after the company became the laughing stock of the industry... and the AI they've been using is to blame for the most recalls in US history... 51 recalls covering more than 11 million vehicles in the first half of 2026. 🤔 😂 #Ford#NoAI

@designthinkingcomic@mastodon.social @lisamelton@mastodon.social While cute, it's different from other coverage that described a better integration of the #engineers within #Ford. Basically, Ford is now valuing #expertise and this should be appreciated, not mocked. I like dunking on #LLMs as much as the next person, but negging companies that learn the correct lesson from trying so-called #AI is not the flex you're looking for.
