@christianp@mathstodon.xyz Probably come up already but the deltas seem to make a nice "diagonal with bumps" pattern. Illustrated here via the magic of awk. (I imagine there's an obvious explanation for this but I am 0% mathematician.)

@bodluricon@mastodon.social @Nickiquote@mstdn.social Let me make a claim that my childhood favourite - end of a baguette, hollowed out, internally buttered, seasoned with salt and vinegar, stuffed with chips - also constitutes a chip butty despite only (conceptually) being one "slice" of bread.

TIL that Python's CSV reader borks if a single column is 131072 characters or more -- not 100% unreasonable but unhelpful if you're dealing with a mad database schema which has occasional JSON abominations of >500K in table X and you're having to go through CSV for various $REASONS that I am too tired to rant about.

@evacide Taken me several decades to (mostly) work that out of my system (and various other things too.) Wish I'd been quicker about it but happy that I eventually (mostly) got here.

@MarkHoltom Wouldn't be a pub open in London if "reports of drunkenness on premises" was a valid reason to raid them. (Or literally any student bar or union in the country.)

"That for me no doubt is a penalty" - Alan Shearer watching Harry Kane blatantly dive. Absolutely shambolic commentary. Especially because he won't shut up about it. They've just replayed it and Kane clearly jams both toes into the ground to make it look like the keeper has blocked him and caused him to go over. Tom Daley would have been proud of that one. 10 10 10 say the judges. #Football #SportsBall #WC2026 #ENGDRC

@bert_hubert@fosstodon.org Was complaining about similar yesterday - ISO8601 specifies (+/-)00:00 as the offset format but strftime outputs (+/-)0000 using %z. SUPER HELPFUL. (yes, strftime was originally codified before ISO8601 but they’ve since added explicit support for ISO8601 weeks with %G and %V. They could add a spec-correct offset sigil.)

@ChrisMayLA6@mastodon.me.uk If @CountBinface@mastodon.world wins, Farage (presumably) gets to escape the investigation which would be bad. But on the other hand, if it does happen, what a resounding public humiliation for Farage. And there are few things more overdue than having him scuttle off, tail betwixt, to his paymasters in (for what passes in his world as) shame.

@cheeaun@mastodon.social Oh, that is nice. Might be nice if the "Original", "Replies", "Boosts" on the month view indicated what colour they were on the pie charts? (Unless I've missed an obvious legend somewhere?)
