@robelix @lichendust This is a real issue. And I can feel for those with ADHD out there. For every new thing I'm doing, I open a new browser window, so all tabs in that window are related to the topic. the first tab is a web search, with the search phrase of what Im doing (of course the search engine is Qwant, DDG, Brave or Ecosia). subsequent tabs might be the rabbit hole for that topic, but at least im not forgetting shit 🤪

@mike805 @lichendust This is a much bigger #productivity question. I tag my tasks in my To-do list with "resource_internet" (yeah, sounds very 1990's). But Im working my way through the discipline of cutting through the shit thats thrown at us by today's internet! Im the target rabbit for every rabbit hole out there!

@emkingma@mstdn.social Nice! I'm lucky enough to not have legacy knowledge in Evernote. But I've been using #Joplin for a few years across Linux, Windows, iOS, iPadOS & Android. I even #selfhost my own Joplin server instance. The client apps are a bit basic, but server sync is robust.

@sri 👍 But more importantly, the fundamental issue of personal data and privacy abuse being borne out of modern corporate practice, is leading those who are technically inclined towards self hosting. But those who aren't, have very little choice.

@sri Agreed, it's not straightforward. In my opinion, a better way is to raise awareness in local communities using traditional channels like libraries, cafes, etc. But this obviously requires more effort 🙂

I'm trying to find a solution to have a well-maintained solution to sync Samba & LDAP. Univention Corporate Server (UCS) seems to be a good solution, and I'm giving it a go.

Does anyone know of a tutorial on how to get Samba running on Univention Corporate Server (UCS). It appears that the Samba server isn't installed on a default installation of UCS.

Is a shame that they had already made up their minds on the outcome and didn't want a conversion. And here I was thinking open source was about communication and collaboration.
