I mostly get paid to talk to my friends about computers which is nice.
It seems I was radicalised by basic decency. 🤷♂️
Just updated my iPad. It wanted me to take a photo of a credit card. I did not let it. It then told me I might not be able to access certain things. The future is fucking shit.
Funny how AI bros never name their bot Dave and treat it like a new friend. Their mate Dave.
Instead they give it a woman's name and flirt with it. Very odd behaviour.
I can't remember who I learned this from but blocking Claude on GitHub gives this handy warning for projects to avoid.
"Using dog shit as soap does not make your hands cleaner"
I don't know why people are surprised when they find out that successful businesses are run by fash-adjacent people. Running a business ethically is really fucking hard, believe me.
I've had to make really bad business decisions like:
- not mixing ads and content on my podcasts
- turning down some ad deals
- refusing to allow invasive tracking of listeners
- not implementing dynamic ads because of said tracking
If I was good at business shit I'd make different decisions on all of those.
I could use AI to edit my podcasts. As well as the ethics, the reason I don't is because it wouldn't save me any time. I'd still have to go through and check everything, and fix the small mistakes it made.
People who say AI saves them time at work (coding for example) must not be thoroughly checking the output and fixing the small mistakes. Or maybe I'm missing something here. 🤷♂️
There are so many things to love about the Fediverse. My current favourite is that the people who managed to work out how this thing works generally tend to agree that "AI" is a force for bad in the world.
This moon lark is such a weird mix of geopolitical dick swinging and scientists getting excited about cool science stuff.
You make your bed and you fucking lie in it.
It is with great reluctance that I admit that @felimwhiteley@mastodon.social was right. About pretty much everything. (except Xfce which is still great)
Every tech CEO be like
I've got quite a few Raspberry Pi boards, including an original one that I bought at @oggcamp@mastodon.social in 2012. I think it's fairly rare because it only has 256MB of RAM. Anyway, I decided to see if it can actually do something useful so installed Pi-hole on it.
Although it's quite slow when I have to ssh in and deal with config, the web interface is pretty responsive. I've been using it on my phone for a few hours but it's absolutely fine.
So maybe the Pi 1 is actually useful!
I think I was wrong about Angine de Poitrine. I was put off by their silly costumes but I suppose in this day and age you need to do that kind of thing to get noticed
It's not the sort of music I'd choose to listen to regularly, but on reflection, I appreciate the art of it. I worry that they are a one trick pony but if they aren't, they could end up being pretty significant in the story of western music
In case you aren't aware, this is the nonsense I'm talking about:
Angine de Poitrine - Full Performance (Live on KEXP)
If I was on that spaceship they'd have probably killed me by now for constantly "singing" this.
Yello - Oh Yeah (Official Video)
I've got this great idea for a comedy bit right. I'm gonna sound like Trump and say stuff. I'll just repeat myself loads and use as many superlatives as possible. I'm sure no one else has thought of this.
Well this song will be stuck in my head for a while then.
You can't just name a weight loss drug after a clown distro and expect me to take it seriously.
The macOS 26.5 update is 15GB. What are developers even doing
@carmenlisandrette@mastodon.social because open source replaced Free Software in the minds of most people.
