I've got no clue who actually started doing that in my household, but using old toilet paper rolls to prevent cables from entangling inside the storage boxes is actually a brilliant idea! 💡#organisation #storage #cables #recycling

It's been a long time since #StarWars has been that much fun. #secondhandmovie #diy

If you're into creative work and #opensource you might want to check out MABarbe's talk on "The State of #LibreGraphics" from this week's @lgm@post.lurk.org. It summarizes recent developments of large projects like @GIMP@floss.social, @Krita@mastodon.art, @kdenlive@floss.social or @inkscape@mastodon.art, but also references more specialized initiatives like @penpot@fosstodon.org, #Hyper8, #Pexieditor, #Tixl, @friction@floss.social or @Coollab@mastodon.social. The #LGM26 site has a list of the mentioned projects, available via https://libregraphicsmeeting.org/2026/projects/
Check out the video here:

Interesting talks, astonishing live demos. On the third day of @lgm@post.lurk.org I learned about some very cool #foss projects like #OssiaScore, @counterpunch@typo.social or @liblast@mastodon.gamedev.place. Recordings of the talks are available!
The second day of the @lgm@post.lurk.org was a great experience. It included a #LGM community workshop, soldering, the group photo and (lightning) talks including one on "Live Coding for Artists and Designers" by @hamoid@genart.social and one on the @GIMP@floss.social community by Jehan.
The @lgm@post.lurk.org 2026 in #Nuremberg was a wonderful experience. Thanks to the local team for the great organisation. I'm tired, but inspired. Time to head home now! See you at #LGM 2027 in #Linz.
Arrived at the @lgm@post.lurk.org yesterday. Attended a few of the afternoon talks, including the ones on ip ownership by @eylul@social.eyluldogruel.com and ctx by @pippin@mastodon.xyz. #LGM26 is taking place at a very cool venue, the #Zollhof in #Nuremberg, as usually a community of wonderful people gathered for #LGM.
Laser die Welt und dann weg mit der Brille! ;)
Steinigt mich. Ich mag den integrierten Texteditor in #Windows 11 echt ganz gern... 🤷♂️

Makes a good name for an IT company, too. I need to check if neutral-mores.net is still available. ;) (edit: of course it is! *g*)

You are definitely following a more professional approach than me. Good choice. 👍 I use cable fixers occasionally to keep cables organised, but for most of my cables, the paper rolls might do a decent job... ;)

@danimrich@mastodon.social @schmuckerem_it@mastodon.social That sounds indeed like a good concept. And if I'm honest, I believe, a lot of the devices half of my cables were meant for, have long been retired and dismissed... (Need to go through that mess at some point...)
Replying to
@danimrich@mastodon.social @schmuckerem_it@mastodon.social That's so true. 😐 I would very well rather need a live hack for what to do with all the obsolete cables I'm storing... (The VGA cables on display being a good example for that...)

@claudius@darmstadt.social Next level paper roll organization. 👍 Really good system. Good idea to flatten them for smaller items. @schmuckerem_it@mastodon.social

That's an excellent strategy @ljo@mastodon.social . I remember having re-used a lot of cable clips in the past, and I think I even used to save many of them in my tool box (of course, I never go looking for them then). But keeping them attached to the original cable sounds like a really good idea. I will try to adapt to that.
