Le problème de la #surveillancepricing a touché #SNCF @groupeSNCF@mastodon.social

Hier, j'ai consulté le site web de SNCF : le billet de train coûtait 44 €.

Aujourd'hui, je suis retourné sur le même site, le prix avait doublé à 88 €.

J'ai essayé d'effacer les cookies, même prix. J'ai essayé d'utiliser un VPN, même prix.

J'ai essayé un autre navigateur web, et le prix est redescendu à 44 €. Ils utilisent donc l'empreinte digitale du navigateur pour augmenter dynamiquement les prix.

@Printdevil@dice.camp When you connect to their website, it downloads some JavaScript and says "verifying the device", which I take to be a lying, weasel way of saying, "fingerprinting your web browser". I tried disabling that JS but then the site does not load. FireFox has some fingerprinting protection built-in but it's clearly not enough in this case. I need to do some research. But it shouldn't be up to tech-savvy users to figure out a workaround, it should just be illegal.

I commute every day by #bicycle and I decided to buy a new #bike.

In the past I would have gone online and read some #reviews and comparisons and made a choice. Now that is nearly impossible, because so many of the "reviews" are #AI #LLM #slop summaries of, I dunno, forum posts about a completely different bike or something.

Instead I have e-mailed a list of my requirements to my #local #bikeshop and asked them what's available. Should have done that first.

Today I was preparing a book cover with GIMP 2.1 and the CMYK separator plugin but it's pretty limited compared to what's coming in GIMP 3. I love it when new software releases give you features you actually need instead of anti-features to extract more money. ❤️

@Pionir@masto.bike I routinely use private browsing, ublock origin and privacy badger as a matter of course. But none of those (nor containers) will protect against browser fingerprinting. The fingerprinting appears to be done by some Javascript that loads when you first connect to the site. I block as much Javascript as possible, but in this case the site stops working. Several people have pointed me to @jeanbaptistemarie@mastodon.social who has an alternative app that does not abuse its users. @Printdevil@dice.camp @s427@lou.lt

After the phone dried out it told me it was OK to start using it again. First time I have seen a phone do that. @Fairphone@social.weho.st

Watched the first three episodes of the #Daleks Master Plan back-to-back.

I enjoyed seeing #NicholasCourtney 's first on-screen appearance in #DoctorWho. Unfortunately Bret Vyon's story arc remains incomplete — the character dies in still-missing episode 4.

#SpecialEffects and model shots were pretty good for the 1960s but not referenced at all in the end credits.

One player has the same name as another player's character. This displeases the gods.)

As he draws the trident back, the shaft strikes the brick wall behind him and bounces off, angling towards Baruch the Smuggler (rolls another 1). Barnaby twists around and loses his footing, falling into the river. Weighed down by his armour, he struggles to keep his head above water (fails check). He starts to drown.

Barney retains control of the rats but loses the octopus. Powler starts tearing the rats to shreds with her long talons, and the octopus reaches its tentacles to the wizard who summoned it...
