While exploring in my local woodland this morning I discovered something I have never seen here before: Hair Ice fungus.
It's really delicate and beautiful, and quite rare as it requires very specific conditions in which to form.

@andre@mastoart.social It sure is. This is a small woodland and this autumn alone I have found more than 40 different types of fungi there. That's on top of the dozens of bird species, innumerable insects, wildflowers, sub-aquatic creatures in the burn... it's remarkable.

I’m working on a photography project on Highland rivers like the Ness, creating abstract images using long shutter speeds, camera movement and focusing on reflected light. I’m struggling for a title but I’d like it to be something like ‘Spirits of the river’ or just ‘River Spirits’ - how might that translate into Gaelic?
