4/5 Amersfoort
#monochrome shots from Sint-Joriskerk (Saint George's church) that dominates the main square in the centre of the historic city.
Nigel Stanley
London - retired - photography - bass guitar - used to work in TU comms and pensions. Mostly keep my opinions to myself. Often wish others did.
3/5 Amersfoort
Here's terrific door, arch and entrance to Sint Joris op ’t Zand church . This dates from 1927.
1/5 Amersfoort
Back to the Netherlands in June for a set from #Amersfoort - not that far from Amsterdam and a historic pretty town worth visiting.
Throwback Saturday Today's theme is #earth, so here's a shot from May 2025 of Aldenham Reservoir (just over the NW London border) showing extremely low water levels - probably the same now - revealing a lot of #earth. It's an #infrared #fullspectrum shot.
Here's a composite of my (partial) #eclipse images . The sun is surprisingly small which presented a challenge when I realised that my only appropriate filter was a 58mm 16 stop ND. Luckily my #fourthirds 75-300 mm lens has a 58mm front element so I used that with a 1.4 teleconverter. I shot out of a bedroom window and the sun went behind trees so I couldn't get full symmetry.

2/5 Amersfoort
The medieval Koppelpoort (construction srarted in 1380) is both a land and water gate into the old town.
5/5 It had to be another #reflections shot to finish this set, beating all the looking up narrow streets full of old buildings shots that I also took. The tower in the background (which has lost its attached church) was once the geographical centre of the country.
Here's a lamp post, some birds and clouds shot on #Blackheath Common a few weeks ago with the #fourthirds Olympus E-400 with a #CCDsensor.
Throwback Saturday.
Looking for a snap with a #summer theme I thought this shot of the River Chess from June 2021 captured what English summer days mean to me - not the scorchio weather of this year.

Throwback Saturday - asked for a snap with a #water theme I immediately thought of #reflections. Here's one from Canary Wharf from 2018, taken with a #Konica 40mmf1.8 lens on a Sony A7ii. It's a DLR train at the bottom.
5/5 Dunwich Heath
A final shot of the glorious, but dangerously flammable, colours of Dunwich Heath in July before the fires.
I went to the Anish Kapoor exhibition at the Hayward Gallery this week. I liked the sunstar on this shot of one of his mirror sculptures (and you can find a tiny selfie). Laowa 7.5mm f2 lens on Panasonic GX85.
3/5 Dunwich Heath
Not all of Dunwich Heath is gorse, heather and fern, there are some wooded spots too. Here's where the path goes through a tunnel.
Throwback Saturday Looking for a shot with the theme of #ShadowPlay I remembered this one from 2018 taken in Ottawa in the National Gallery of Canada.

1/5 Ely Cathedral 2
A second set of images from #ElyCathedral this week starting with this looking up shot of one of the transepts and including the octagonal Lantern.
1/5 Bluebells
Time for my annual joke that you need to present bluebell snaps to renew your UK photography license.
Taken in Wanstead Park with the Panasonic DMC-L1 and the Olympus 35-100mm f2 zoom last week.

2/5 Dunwich Heath
From a few weeks ago before the devastating wild fire. Purple, greens and golds - but the gold mostly means dried out and inflammable.
4/5 Dunwich Heath
If you want to know why wildfire has destroyed much of Dunwich Heath, here's clue. This was a fern, here's it's kindling and now it's probably ash.
2/5 King's Lynn
There is a lot of history in this town and many old buildings, and I came back with lots of street and alley scenes.

1/5 #monochrome #infrared
This week a set of #blackandwhite snaps from recent walks. This is from late March near Warley in Essex.
#fourthirds #Olympus14_35mmf2 lens #fullspectrum EM1ii. #590nm filter
5/5 King's Lynn
The tidal clock from St Margaret's, KIng's Lynn Minster - never seen one of those before - and then some more empty historic streets.

3/5 Bluebells
Another bluebell close-up. You can see it's been raining. I don't entirely buy the CCD sensor hype, but I do like the images this 22 year old camera produces.
#fourthirds #CCDsensor #OlympusE300 and the #Olympus50mmf2 macro.
2/5 #monochrome #infrared
This is the River Ingrebourne in Harold Wood Park in E London a month ago. There's a colour version earlier in my feed.

Continuing the #shadows theme from yesterday, here's one from last week at Marble Hill House in W London.

Only a few weeks ago, but I suspect all the trees will have leaves by now. Harold Wood Park on the edge of E London.
