cursing the person who made it impossible to get a cheap camera in europe that can record for more than 29 minutes and 59 seconds as I try to record a video of me playing back a 30 minute record

@kirakira she was the first piece of furry art I've ever seen after I clicked on "random article" on Wikipedia in 2008 and laded on the page for furry fandom! Things would never be the same after…

Ran a bit of a long term test with my VTR to see if it's stable and I was able to record around 17 minutes before it started losing sync again. Ugh…
So either the drum speed is slowly drifting as it warms up, or the camera frame rate is slowly drifting, or the load on the motor increases as we get towards the end of the tape, or it's something completely different…

I should probably repeat that test with a quartz locked camera to at least mostly rule that out as the source of the problem.

ok, so, here's a question about PCB releases: I get my PCBs from JLC and do all the part assignments for PCBA inside KiCAD using the JLCPCB plugin, which means all the production data for getting your own boards made it right there, but I don't usually include it in my releases because I feel kinda… icky about including files for a specific board house? Like, they're not paying me anything and I don't really want to favor one company over another, but I do realize that it would be handy for people to just have a file they can upload somewhere and get boards in the mail a few days later. How do you feel about including production files for specific manufacturers in open source releases?

@dtl I don't think so. It does get pretty bright, but turning up the brightness just washes out the image. I might do some basic reverse engineering to see if I can just drive the control grid a little harder maybe to push it deeper into cutoff for the black parts of the image

anyone here has any experience doing remote debugging on ARM devices using Gram/Zed?
I've been using cortex-debug in VSCode before but there is no such thing for Gram yet. I tried setting things up manually but had no real success. I can get GDB to connect to OpenOCD but I can't get it to automatically reset the device and upload the new binary. Giving GDB a file with startup commands just makes Gram lock up when starting the debug session.

@f4grx the plugin isn't made by JLC, it's all volunteer work. And you can't get around *some* level of non-standardness when assigning part numbers from a catalogue cause every manufacturer is gonna have a different inventory system for the parts they offer.

@kkarhan I really don't need a fourth oscilloscope! I could use it as test monitor for my way too many old TV cameras, but the image quality really isn't good enough for that. I am planning to implement GUD into my tinyvision library to enable using it (or any other old TV) as USB monitor though.

@amy well, just up until now I thought the plugin keeps the LCSC mapping in it's own database but apparently that's not always the case, because some parts have an LCSC field while others don't, even though they all have part numbers assigned in the plugin. Not sure what's going on there, tbh…

@Laberpferd I think they modulate the horizontal deflection voltage, or at least that's part of it. There is a potentiometer to adjust the keystone distortion but I'm not quite sure what exactly is going on.

@f4grx the plugin adds an additional field with the LCSC part number to the footprint. Everything else comes from the schematic.
