Today I learned that part of the reason LLM contributions to open source projects are becoming more difficult to distinguish from human contributions is that the AI enthusiasts are processing LLM output with tools specifically designed to deceive.

We used to say “yolo merge” when merging with inadequate review, but perhaps “morge” is an even better term.

A local shop is taking down pride decorations and transitioning to Halloween. I look forward to these two alternating seasons from now on.

I just realized that the name "Alfa Romeo" is composed only of words from the NATO phonetic alphabet. Are there any other car manufacturers with such names?

I'm unsurprised to learn that Cory Doctorow uses an LLM in his editorial process. I recently read a fiction book of his for the first time and found it difficult to read. There were no spelling errors or grammatical errors, but ambiguous pronouns and ambiguous sentence structure abounded. I kept having to stop and think "Is the way I'm interpreting this sentence actually the way the author intended?" I had the distinct impression that it was edited by a machine, not a human.

@claushoumann@mastodon.social The book was Walkaway (2017). There were other aspects of the book I disliked, but I would have been more accepting of its faults had the writing style not continually ripped me out of the immersive reading experience.

@hackaday@hackaday.social Perfect for all those projects that are physically large, need to last for decades, and are expected to experience tens of thousands of insertions, oh and where cost is not a concern.
