Are there any internet providers in #Vancouver that support #IPv6? My ISP seems to be stuck in "Coming soon" state, and I can't seem to find any documentation or marketing for other providers that say they provide IPv6... maybe I am not looking hard enough 😂 #YVR #VancouverBC

"Officials said that if CSIS wanted to track a terror suspect, for example, its agents are often forced to physically track them in person at great expense to the federal government, limiting how many operations they can undertake. " GOOD. I'm all for doing my part and making sure Canadians are safe, but getting hard evidence SHOULD be hard and in real life. We can fake so much online now. Let's not make it easier to arrest people wrongly.

Bill C-22 is the wrong approach to "modernize" law enforcement. The bill will conscript all tech service companies into becoming apart of the law enforcement apparatus. That's not going to work. They need to prioritize hiring people who are tech savvy (all the way to the top). The fact that many police forces have a separate/single cyber division is antiquated. The answer is to reform law enforcement into a more creative, technical and surgical system. Not reducing everyone's privacy.

Bill C-34, the new Digital Safety Act / Safe Social Media Act. If this passes, this will have sweeping repercussions for the Canadian fediverse. #canada #privacy #cdnpoli #billc34 #fediverse #mastoadmin https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/news/2026/06/government-of-canada-introduces-legislation-to-make-social-media-services-and-ai-chatbots-safer-for-children.html

RE: @cbcnews@flipboard.com

This is interesting. Feels like shenanigans a bit. I wonder if this is the result of a deal for that NDP MP floor crossing?

Another great day reminding me that I do have a voice in my city, there's now some much needed adjustments to public transit that I advocated for in my neighbourhood!

PSA to y'all #IRC users: the latest release of #Halloy supports more #IRCv3 specs! Including `typing` (now on @liberachat@fosstodon.org too), and `+draft/react` & `draft/multiline` on servers that support (ergo.chat) them!

It's been very pleasant to use Halloy for IRC, so many nice quality-of-life features 🫶

Replying to

@murteza The reasoning is that it gets too dark too early in the winter, and a lot of people in BC (especially near Vancouver area) get SAD due to it. I could go either way to be honest. But I do see the appeal of having more time in the sun after work.

@chad it'll be the best move you'll make. 0 downtime upgrades (if you take appropriate steps) and no dependency hell. The downside is if you want to alter the source code at all, rebuilding the docker image is a bit of a pain.
