I scanned a lot (not all) of the #Ubuntu launchpad PPAs, to see which ones are most popular. PPAs (Personal Package Archives) are Deb repos that developers can use to build and share software, libraries, and anything else you can jam in a deb package.

Whee! A fresh new episode of Linux Matters is out. In which I am grateful to IBM for the LinuxOne project, giving me access to an S/390 - for free! They must be mad, or really nice, or a bit of both.

In November, 12 GitHub repos had a SKILL md file.
By March, 5,460.
Most never get touched again after they're committed.
We sent 622 PRs trying to fix the worst offenders. Here's what we learned — including the maintainer who politely told us to bugger off:

Unlike many, I'm not annoyed by Google Advanced Flow for people who want to side-load apps. However, I _AM_ annoyed that the short URL is "Google Advance Flow" (not advanced with a 'd ').

Why is Unicode PILE OF POO emoji called :hankey: in Signal?
Yes, after the South Park character. Type :poo: and it suggests a poodle first. A poodle. Discord calls it :poop: which is fine, I suppose.
We'll send cartoon faeces, but we draw the line at naming it accurately.
Yes, I'm a killjoy. 💩
