Again on the #3Dprinted #rackmount for the #OpenWRTOne .
I added the #usbc power supply with an #IEC connector, so I can plug it directly into the #ups in the #rack.

I just discovered that to resign in #Italy, if you've got young children, you must attend to an interview with an italian #work agency (called Ispettorato Nazionale del Lavoro)... on #MicrosoftTeams . WTF?!? How, exactly, a relationshib between an #italian #citizen and an italian agency is mediated by a #multinational company tied to the most powerful government in the world? Also, one that didn't prove very savy, lately...
Sources: https://www.ispettorato.gov.it/servizio/convalida-di-dimissioni-o-risoluzione-consensuale-lavoratrice-madre-o-lavoratore-padre-richiesta-colloquio-on-line/ (download the PDF module and read the part saying "[...] COMUNICO INOLTRE che l'indirizzo email a cui inviare il link per il colloquio online sulla piattaforma Microsoft Teams è il seguente [...]". 🤦
Wonder what @DataKnightmare@mastodon.xyz thinks about it...

I'm sorting some #electronic #components and found these. I'm not sure what they are, they seem very ancient. Nothing written on them, but they are color-coded (like modern resistors). Anyone has a clue?

At the end I succeeded, and I was the second one in the class to do so. Very proud of me, for a time! 🎉

I'm printing it. I incremented the #flowrate in the #slicer to be sure there are no gaps and it's actually #waterproof. Also, it's printed in #petg for the same reason.
Very bad orientation, it allows to save some plastic but let's hope it will not fail 🫣

Reparing the Fabula. The speaker and battery cables were broken at the soldering point. No idea why. Also, it isn't the first time it happens. They are common Dupont cables cut and soldered (because I need the connector on the other end). They shouldn't be subject to mechanic stress, it seems more like a chimical/oxidation problem... but I have no clue at all...

They had the batteries blocked at the frontier, so I had to improvise 😂

This week end I'll be at #hackadayeurope . What should I pack? My laptop, of course, and then? Multimeter, breadboards, a couple of MCU? Should I bring the soldering iron? Any project to show?
I'm traveling by motorcycle, so I can bring more than on a plane, but not a lot...

@stitzl@mastodon.social @alda@topspicy.social heard the same extact thing at work. The worst part is, I didn't hear it from an executive, but from a developer...

@Unixbigot @smellsofbikes oooh cool tha ks! Tantalium caps, then! I'll try to measure them tonight, just out of curiosity!
I _seem_ to remember having seen them in old radios when I was a child.

When I was at #hackadayeurope 2026 I received my #communicator #badge with a #3Dprinted back cover. I'd like to modify and re-print it, but it seems the 3D model is not available in the #git repo: https://github.com/Hack-a-Day/2025-Communicator_Badge
Does anyone have a clue on where to find the 3D model or at least the STL?

@rc2014@oldbytes.space it seems I've got a good deal for these two, then! 8€ each at the local electronics fair last month. There was a box full of them, I should have bought more...

@joe @nikcorg The obvious choice would be a Bullitt, it's fairly easy to find them also used if you will, at least here in Europe... I suggest you to avoid Panda Bike, they are cheap, but I've got a pretty bad experience with one of these (had to spend almost the same of the original price in upgrades to make it useable and safe to ride...).

@bbeaker@toot.community oh, that's probable. They appear copper-colored, but the price was low, so they may very well be aluminium...

@bbeaker@toot.community good point! I use a lot of flux, and usually clean the residues with IPA, expecially when I solder to a PCB. I may have not done the same with these joints... but I didn't change anything in the way I work (even still using same solder and flux) and this didn't happen in the past. Maybe this cables are just too thin...

There's an hole at the top to place a wood screw in. The idea is to be able to change the activation point screwing/unscrewing it

It's made by two parts: the right one floats in the water and can move inside the left one. It should push on the switch stem when the water level is high, and release it when it's too low.

@jmp49152@mastodon.social sorry didn't see the message! I soldered two standard male headers to the speaker, for now, so I can use standard dupont cables. Let's see if it will last!
