Petition in Germany to recognize unpaid contribution to free and open source software projects as 'society-beneficial volunteering' (ehrenamt)!

This will give volunteering for e.g. @postmarketOS@social.treehouse.systems , @freifunk@social.freifunk.net , @kde@floss.social , @nextcloud@mastodon.xyz , @Mastodon@mastodon.social and other libre projects the same legal status as taking care of an elderly family member or volunteering for a youth association, which provides tax benefits and relaxes requirements for receiving unemployment benefits.

Could someone help me figure out a specific #docker #dockerswarm networking thing?

I want to deploy a service with multiple replicas on a docker swarm mode cluster.
The container replicas / tasks need to be able to reach each other individually at predictable/templateable urls, without manual configuration.

I'm trying to make a #coopcloud recipe for #etcd (distributed key-value store). This will only be useful for multi-node co-op cloud, but would facilitate e.g. high availability postgresql via Patroni, and other interesting distributed computing stuffs.

[Here's](https://codeberg.org/papiris/etcd-recipe) the draft of the recipe, showing my attempts to template. In its current form, the individual replicas are reachable via `..`, but I don't know how to template the hash part or make a more stable alias per replica.

For a busybox service with multiple replicas, setting hostname like this in compose.yml lets the replicas resolve each other by e.g. busybox.1 ;
hostname: {{.Service.Name}}.{{.Task.Slot}}
But doing the same doesn't let the etcd replicas connect with each other... Does etcd need some special consideration?

For sure! In my comment I was going for co-ops and similar organisations where the users have democratic co-determination, but tech workers' co-ops are certainly a vital and important part of the ecosystem.

Wednesday

Together the committee of unionized young workers visited Utøya, an immensely important island for the workers' movement in Norway. The annual youth summer camp of the Workers' Party Youth has been held there since the 70's.

In 2011, a right-wing terrorist attacked the government quarter in Oslo, killing 8 people, and soon after attacked the gathering of >500 politically active youth on the island, killing 69 youth and staff. Wikipedia article.

The island has now been reclaimed by the workers' movement. In 2015 AUF held the first youth summer camp there since the terrorist attack, with 1500 participants (almost 3x the number of participants in 2011)

In addition to the many summer camps of various leftist youth organizations held there since, the island has become a centre for furthering democracy and democratic participation; seeing 17 000 visitors in 2025. Most of them school kids on organized trips to the island.

The folks of Utøya Centre and I discussed digital sovereignty for organizations and folks, at length. They're stoked about the concept of people forming "digital services hosting co-ops/collectives", like datakollektivet.no.
