@thomholwerda@exquisite.social responsibly sourced cocaine is harvested from ecobananas
(the joke is based on true story: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/cocaine-found-inside-crates-bananas-32668807)

@vbabka 99% of all RCU stalls I see in production are caused by VMware CPU overcommitment, and a panic doesn't really help there.

@thomholwerda@exquisite.social I wouldn't use virt-manager for that but bare qemu-system-x86_64. Where is the ISO?

@kaidenshi Not to underestimate your success, but battery drain in Linux with lid closed may have something to do with s2idle vs deep sleep.

@kaidenshi FWIW, it may not be something that has to be fixed, rather configured appropriately to what a user expects from their machine. s2idle is for an instant wakeup, deep sleep is for power saving.

@thomholwerda@exquisite.social If needed, I can try to help you to spin up a qemu VM. No idea if it will work though, but at least usually I know what I'm doing :).

How ironic that after years of abandoning the true meaning of free software we are starting to get it.
The openness of the source code is not enough, and never has been.

@thomholwerda@exquisite.social I can reproduce it, but I can also work around it by disabling KVM acceleration and using TCG instead. Not sure what it looks like in virt-manager, but in bare cli it's like this:
qemu-system-x86_64 \
-name "mandrake-8.2" \
-display sdl \
-nodefaults \
-machine pc,accel=tcg \
-cpu pentium3 \
-m 512 \
-vga std \
-netdev user,id=net0 -device rtl8139,netdev=net0 \
-drive file=hda.img,format=raw,index=0,media=disk \
-cdrom Mandrake82-cd1-inst.i586.iso \
-boot d

Surprised pikachu face after learning that "stable" kernel is just an LLM-shuffled master branch with random commits dropped.

@thomholwerda@exquisite.social ok, it's slow as hell though; I wonder if KVM can work after install
