I'm sorry my German friends, but if a party wants to stop sending weapons to Ukraine, that party is pro-Russia. 🤷♀️

@catsalad@infosec.exchange When life gives you verification, don’t comply. Make life take the verification back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn verification, what the hell am I supposed to do with this? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could verify Cave Johnson! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the verification! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible verification that burns your house down!

So the concept of the CVE is undergoing inflation because the slop companies have a vested interest in turning every minor bug into a dangerous security issue? To make it seem as if "AI" code scanning tools are better at finding security issues than they really are?
Am I off the mark here?

"I read slop output every day but it doesn't affect my writing" is one hell of a monolingual non-traveller thing to say.
Bitch I spent three weeks in Texas when I was 17 and my English is still recovering from it.

Almost all socket A motherboards are 2002 or later - which is problematic because Mandrake 8.2 is from early 2002.
This is so much harder than I thought.

The nazi politician in parliament attacking trans people. The priest in church denouncing gay marriage. The christian political leader arguing against a ban on conversion torture. The imam in a mosque lambasting the LGBTQ community. The youths attacking LGBTQ people in our streets. The deranged lunatic driving his car into a pride event.
The underlying ideology doesn't matter. Anti-LGBTQ rhetoric should be a severe crime punishable by jail time, whether it's coming from a religious leader, a politician, or anyone else.

@osnews@mstdn.social Jesus fucking Christ man, our "developers" are slopcoding their frontal cortex to mush with useless stupid shit like slopcoded Haiku PowerPC ports or whatever the fuck, while over there they're jumpstarting an entirely new consumer operating system platform.
Our tech sector is killing itself at 10x, and they're cheering it on too. We are fucking idiots.

@osnews@mstdn.social HarmonyOS is an entirely custom, ground-up operating system for phones, tablets, laptops, PCs, and more, and basically nobody in the west knows about it or has used it.
The most exciting consumer operating system development is happening not in the US or EU, but in China, but we're not allowed to buy it. Wild.

@osnews@mstdn.social Even the "newest" consumer operating systems we use are decades old. The last time someone tried to start from scratch in the west was fucking BeOS in the '90s.
We monopolised our operating systems market to death, with no end in sight, while China is doing all the cool stuff. Phoning home spyware or not, I want to see what the fuck they're doing that we aren't allowed to get.

The Twingo should be heralded as one of the greatest cars ever made.
Making an amazing car that costs €100000 is easy. Making an amazing car that costs €8000 is out of this world.

Apple is going to repackage technology companies like Samsung have been working on for decades and claim it as their own. American tech media are doing the legwork for them.
They are scum.

There's a real pent-up demand for a Linux distribution as nicely made as Fedora or Elementary, but focused on providing a more classic, retro experience but *with* all the modern amenities. I have high hopes for things like cow, which brings a classic fvwm experience to Wayland:

Building something from components myself costs time I'd rather spend with my kids, or, I don't know, shoving shards of glass underneath my fingernails.

The root cause of every single problem in the west is wealth inequality. Every single one of them. Scratch between the surface of every problem, and you'll find wealth inequality. That's why the billionaire class tries so hard to blame everything on migrants or trans people or whatever the fuck - they know that once people realise wealth inequality is the real root cause, billionaires will be the first on the chopping block.
We've done it before, and we will do it again. They know they're living on borrowed time. That's why their flailing and idiocy is getting more bizarre by the day.
They know they're not safe, no matter where they are.

I can't do shit but boost and applaud. Once these people have a more permanent home (website) and some work to show, I'll see if it makes sense for a post on @osnews@mstdn.social.

>Editor’s note: This is an English translation of an interview originally published on FabScene, a Japanese web media outlet covering hardware, digital fabrication, and maker culture. Context has been added for readers unfamiliar with Japan’s electronics scene.
A translation is a work of art. If you do actually get a real translator - and it seems they actually did here - name them. Credit them.
I know I'm fighting a battle long lost, but as someone with two university degrees in translation, translating is an art form. Not crediting the artist is, at best, lazy, and at worst, theft and plagiarism.

I love my GNOME developer friends but I do actually firmly believe this. Theming is accessibility, and any desktop environment not embracing it is shooting itself in the foot (heh). It is impossible to accommodate every user's colour, iconography, etc. needs, and that's where theming comes in.
I would not be able to use GNOME without being able to change its icon set. I am thankful that hasn't been removed yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if they'd like to.
