mastodon 4.7.3Human-centric #geospatial #DataScience 🚶🚲 Sustainable #mobility #networks, in #Copenhagen
Created: https://datasci.social, https://bikenetkit.org, https://whatthestreet.com, @nerdsitu@datasci.social, https://pardus.at. searchable
Very nice new tool showing #bike routes in #Austria with lots of configurability: https://radatlas.at/
There is a family-friendly option, but there isn't more than a handful of routes suited for families with small children. In other countries you have a real network with thousands of options, see now Denmark: https://arxiv.org/abs/2604.07029
Of course Austria has *some* mountains, but it's no excuse to have so few routes there. Anyway, nice tool!
https://datasci.social/ now runs the latest Mastodon v4.6.0 🎉
Also updated the CSS (Bird UI), apologies if it looked a bit funky in the last hours. #mastoadmin
Why Your City Feels Built For Cars, Not People

Very happy this paper is published! Great+deep work led by Clément Sebastiao. We systematically study strategies to grow a transport network step by step - motivated by #bicycle networks which need to be functional as soon as possible.

RE: @liesvanrompaey@flipping.rocks
They all feel a bit weird, but great to see zero cars on them and many people walking or active in the public, several cycling. Will the EU take this as a vision to implement?

After 17 years of many manuscripts cleaned+submitted to #arxiv, I finally automated and wrote down the process, see: https://github.com/NERDSITU/research-resources/blob/main/arxivsubmission.md
Thanks to the amazing Python packages bib_optimizer and arxiv_latex_cleaner.
Your daily dose of #motonormativity : To report a stolen e-bike battery to the Danish police, you have to select the category "Tools / number plate / car parts / fuel / electricity". I wonder how many battery thefts go un/misreported because people don't click through all categories.

Nice. Might arxiv become a "seal of quality" for published papers? That is, if a published paper hasn't gone through arxiv, it's less reliable? (Might already have been the case, but this makes it explicit)

Finally came up with this one line of code.. it gives me #network components ordered by total link length. Is this pythonic? 😅 :networkx:

Turns out I am both, except instead of German I'm apparently Austrian. And I am indeed Austrian. 😲

Does someone here know why #shields.io is blocking github? I am trying to create an #endpoint #badge on #github like so: https://img.shields.io/endpoint?url=https://gist.github.com/mszell/fa90e1bc9a90719944b41f6af03ced49/raw/covbadge.json
The url https://gist.github.com/mszell/fa90e1bc9a90719944b41f6af03ced49/raw/covbadge.json is correct, but shields.io blocks the domain, and I don't understand why. I'm new to this, maybe I just overlook something stupid?
Nice!
