Living in Spain with husband @jpoesen@drupal.community, 2 dogs and 2 cats.

I help people get a (Flemish) high school degree when the regular channels don't work for them.

I love animals (dogs in particular), nature, photography, and science. I'm crazy about books.

I spend most of my time reading, doing stuff in the garden, watching tv, and looking at plants and bugs.

"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see." Henry David Thoreau

Living in the EU? If you feel like it you can vote for the new bank notes designs. https://www.ecb.europa.eu/euro/banknotes/future_banknotes/html/design-proposals.en.html There are pretty birds too :).

The European Central Bank (ECB) is the central bank of the European Union countries which have adopted the euro. Our main task is to maintain price stability in the euro area and so preserve the purchasing power of the single currency.

Just a bit of useless wondering while a cough is keeping me in bed.

The dishes and beverages the replicator produces on Star Trek come in containers and with cutlery.

Do we ever learn where these things go afterwards? Are they dumped into some kind of recycler? Does the replicator absorb them?

Biography of a good boy.

Born August 1st, 2011 in Saint-Louis, Senegal. Mother half Belgian shepherd, father unknown.

Was so completely infested with fly larvae when we got him that the tip of his tail fell off.

Castrated without anaesthetic in front of 20 veterinary students because we were naive and the vet was an idiot.

Lived "dans la brousse" for three years with two other dogs. Spent his days running, barking and chasing lizards.

Accompanied us on a road trip from Senegal to Spain. Found Nouakchott too busy to poop, so waited until we were shown around in our hotel suite, more or less as we were explaining that the dogs were fully house broken and wouldn't cause any trouble. Getting him across the border between Western Sahara and Morocco took a bribe (a bottle of 25 year old whiskey).

Spent about 12 hours tripping after gobbling down a loaf of mouldy bread stolen from a pile of kitchen waste.

Showed all emotions by way of making strange noises and shaking all over, often leaving us wondering if he was happy or having some kind of fit.

Was the happiest when he could stay close to me and spent many contented hours dosing under my desk.

Four months ago he developed a cough. Three months ago that cough turned out to be caused by two tumours around his heart. He got worse very slowly and quietly and then very quickly. Today we took him to the vet and said goodbye.

He was a strange, kind and faithful little dog. He probably loved me more than I deserved. I hope I did right by him.

@TTBE@toot.community Fortunately, no. We have wooden Ivar shelves. They have predrilled holes at regular intervals that seem to more or less turn them into an insect hotel. Perfect for solitary bees, but useless to social bees.

@Arsimael@social.khajiit.de @FranceskaMann@freeradical.zone @gerrymcgovern@mastodon.green I don't think this will mean any kind of degrowth. People in the west will continue to consume more than they need. If there are fewer of them with the same amount of wealth, the total consumption will be higher. Poorer countries are catching up economically. This will increase consumption. As their populations are growing the net consumption will again be higher.

@RaffKarva@sunny.garden Hi Thank you for this great post. I've passed it on to a Flemish organisation that promotes bird feeding. Would it be possible to add observation.org to the Citizen science tools? It is a great platform, especially for Europe (the continent).
