@pixelfed When trying to create an account, the email confirmation code can't be copy-pasted, since the spaces between are also being pasted into the text-box. Videos federated from mastodon instances have no thumbnail. Thanks for your work!

@signalapp I love signal, but even after abandoning all messengers except signal and matrix, my friends an family would rather send me SMS instead of downloading Signal. It's sad to see no one cares about their privacy.

@moshidon Don't overwork yourself! Moshidon is already the best mastodon client :) I noticed some long video loading times in moshidon and some crashes when using pixelfed accounts but other than that everything is perfect

@leoschuldiner23 I mean it's 6 year old hardware and even for 2020, it's a low spec computer. If you tried selling a non-apple computer with those specs, it would probably be worth the same. I just don't know why they would even offer a trade-in progam, if they aren't giving you any money for it

@light I appreciate your research, I didn't read the post carefully, though. The author uses very aggressive language and I don't think I'm educated enough to get all their points. I get that this could be an issue, but then again, signal is open-source and driven by a non-profit. I get that there's a threat, but it's basically non-existent imo and I'm okay with that. With using signal I'm at least not completely isolating myself, due to the growing popularity in Germany. Thanks though!

@light @toji You're right, Signal uses FCM which surprises me. Since Signal is Open-Source, you could see if they tried to backdoor the app. Third party clients can still be malicious, since they have access to your unencrypted messages.

@Yuvalne @signalapp I deleted WhatsApp years ago and told everyone that if they don't want to download an app for me they can SMS or call me. You're not completely isolated, but I think it's an important step, also so people start thinking about their own privacy. I'd say take the plunge and see what happens! Worst case scenario is you redownload WhatsApp and go back to the status quo

@Tutanota Do you plan on cresting a "bridge" between the tuta service and third party clients? The only thing I'd still want is being able to use thunderbird with tutamail, just like protonmail is offering

I very much dislike cinnamon and mate, so that's not really an option for me. I'd probably switch to hyprland if I wanted to get rid of systemd.

@Tutanota Thanks for your answer, I understand that there are technical limitations, I'm just aware that proton offers this, but I don't know how they implemented it and whether it's safe. Proton just doesn't offer a linux client, which is insane to me. Also, I'd only be interested in email, since I never use more than one service per provider, but thanks for providing an explanation

@raganwald@social.bau-ha.us Thanks to that mindset I can't find a job. Companies keep telling me "you don't have any work experience, come back in 5 years". It's so frustrating. Recently I got my first job offer in 9 months and it was a full time Full-Stack-Developer position for MINUMUM WAGE and 0 benefits.

@samhenrigold and it looks like shit, too. How can you look at this and be like "yea I'm gonna use that"
