#openmpt #lofi #boombap #hiphop #beat

@hopland@snabelen.no @lislegaard@sonomu.club @tante@tldr.nettime.org Do militaries care about software licensing at all? Element and Nextcloud licenses are violated for sure when their code is incorporated into proprietary suites with EULA and another organization mentioned as the developer in the copyright footers.

@pludikovsky@chaos.social Won't big publishers force the decision on authors, not ask for consent? Also, isn't the sheer quantity of unlicensed training material the reason LLMs output anything cohesive? Hypothetically I'd like more authors and translators to volunteer works to OpenNMT to improve libre machine translation. (I haven't researched how to do that yet.) I remember Google Translate gamifying the training of its model; I'd participate in such a project if done by libre software authors.

Replying to

@TG_Esq Both cassette and CD bootleg mixtapes. One of the CDs was a collection of some early version of MP3 used as a codec, still with WAV extension, and a player program along with the music files.

@servo Hoping to see a standalone JS runtime that's also part of the browser, I mean a system package that the browser depends on, rather than building its own.

@abolisyonista State-funded public transportation doesn't provide good work conditions, so the drivers might join the private strike or organize one of their own? In Kyiv, municipal trolleybus drivers went on hunger strike in 2017. Idk if the state granted them anything, though. https://rev.org.ua/goloduvaty-dali/

@jessebot@social.smallhack.org Hello! What does grey area mean in the open-slopware list, in the context of TypeBox and ArkType? Tried to find a PR or commit with details but didn't.

@gimulnautti@mastodon.green @glynmoody@mastodon.social One wouldn't even need to regulate much, but regularly pay public money to developers of reputable fedi software to make it a better competitor and honestly advertise it. Unfortunately, states mostly regulate to secure crony power; only a rare law improves the lives of many.
