DB has 100% CPU usage, so I investigate. Slow queries for a simple `SELECT` with a direct column match. No index on queried column. 🤦
Doesn't explain the issue completely. Checking other queries same thing, 3 columns in a `SELECT`, all without an index. 🤦
And of course this DB has been in Prod use for 3 years already…
Please, Devs, talk to your #DBAs!
Question for the #authors: let's assume a bunch of big #publishers decided to train a new #LLM on their pooled catalogue with consent of the authors.
Would you see the use of it acceptable for light #editing purposes? I.e. finding inconsistencies, tone issues, …

Even in the future, there's legacy…
From the awesome game "Endless Sky", which IMO is a must-play for anyone who enjoyed the "Escape Velocity" games back in the day.

@makepost@mastodon.art The question is intentionally set in a quasi-utopian setting where publishere actually care about rights and working together.
Replying to
@yoasif@mastodon.social The question isn't about having the Chatbot *write* for you, it's about an editing help. I.e. telling you about word repetitions, or when a character description starts to diverge. Basically what Alpha readers or editor should find in the early stages.
Replying to
@yoasif@mastodon.social Mostly because I wanted to put forth a hypothetical to see if writers see any use of LLMs as acceptable. As a non-programmer I don't know if any implementation of these features would be realistically too much different of a stochastic model as far as context awareness is required.
