I smell bullshit: they didn't have any explosives at all and they have been released (on bail)? It looks like they have nothing against the kids, other than "they were suspiciously near a military base" and a fabricated history about destruction that assholes at the US government, like Trump, got to talk about. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/sep/28/men-arrested-raf-fairford-counter-terrorism-police

A friend of mine published an Open Source project for making chiptune music from binary files. Yes, you read it right: you point to a binary and it makes chiptune music based on the contents of the file. The project is called "cheapbin": https://github.com/marioballano/cheapbin It turns out to sound good with malwares. So, I did the obvious: add support for writing MIDI & MusicXML, edit it, add metal guitars, and turn some malwares into metal chiptune. I will be publishing the EP soon 😅

RE: https://mastodon.social/@joxean/116931789557602319 And here is the chiptune metal EP I have made using Conficker, I Love You, Wannacry and Stuxnet malware samples. Enjoy! (I hope). https://darkharmony.bandcamp.com/album/cheap-malware #chiptune #malware #metal #conficker #stuxnet #iloveyou #wannacry #cheapbin

This malware is pretty cool, it took me a while to get to the 4th obfuscation layer myself in IDA even when using a deobfuscation plugin myself, mixes its own obfuscated code deep in legitimate "goodware" code, uses lots of MBAs, has anti-VM tricks. High quality malware. https://www.elastic.co/security-labs/oxloader-malware-loader-infostealer #malware #ida #reversing #reverseengineering

If you ignore the fact that everything happens in USA (where else?), that according to the movie somehow only 1 government on earth knew about the fact (USA, obviously, nobody else have telescopes to watch the sky, aliens wouldn't land elsewhere on this planet ever, etc), and also that somehow the movie tries to mix 1 religion (christians) with aliens, then, The Disclosure Day by Steven Spielberg is a fun movie. BTW, the music was written by John Williams, so it is very good. #disclosureday

So, rumours are that Windows 12 will be subscription based and AI focused. Lol. I... I hope I don't have to use it for anything at all ever in my life.

AI advice suppresses people’s willingness to say “I don’t know”, even when the advice is wrong and accuracy is incentivized.

AI advice suppresses people's willingness to say "I don't know", even when the advice is wrong and accuracy is incentivized

Knowing when to say "I don't know" is fundamental to human judgment, yet AI assistants offer a fluent answer to almost any question. In five experiments (N = 3,132; four preregistered, one direct replication), participants answered difficult questions and could always decline to respond. We engineered the questions so that AI advice was wrong, separating AI use from its accuracy. Merely having access to AI nearly eliminated participants' willingness to suspend judgment, and this held whe

@laomaiweng@infosec.exchange @zhuowei@notnow.dev @matalaz@mastodon.social I'm afraid I have nothing to say about Bindiff as of today. It's very dated. In Diaphora it should be easier to detect even little changes at any level (assembly, microcode or pseudo-code), specially in the simplest binary diffing case: patch diffing. But without actual samples, I don't know what might happen.

@Hyperlynx@aus.social I do use constants, usually marked as constexpr (or rarely as #define UPPERCASE value), but commonly outside of functions/member functions. What I was referring is about using const only in the constants inside of local functions/members for POD.

C++ question: I never use const for POD datatypes, except, maybe, for functions. Does it make sense for you to do something like this:

void foo(void)
{
const int x = 32;
// Do stuff
}

Do you do this? Why?

#cpp

The State of Israel is continuing their collective punishment of civilians.

Gaza hospitals ceasing to function as water and fuel run out.

Medics say some doctors forced to operate without anaesthesia and using vinegar in place of antiseptic.

Out of curiosity: do you happen to know, by any extremelly rare chance, anyone that plays a #theremin? Not looking for some performer, just curious.

I was trying to search in google the prevalence of, uhm, some phrase, and then the always really useful google's AI made summary said what the picture shows. When are them going to disable by default this waste of resources? #googleai #pleasedie
