Probably should give an #introduction as I am moving servers. Hello #hachyderm! I am a dad, living in #NewHampshire, working in medical image processing and #ComputerVision. Have done a couple stints at small start-ups but am now at a mega-corp. I enjoy software engineering, and mostly work C++ and Python. When I can, I like to tinker on open source software and https://o-o.tools/ is my current effort. If it's winter, I ski, summer is for the beach, in-between is time for hiking. #CPP #Python

Updated #introduction: I'm a senior research software engineer at the Institutional Data Initiative at the Harvard Law School Library. I think about data and ML and NLP, mostly in service of libraries and knowledge institutions. I used to be a research scientist at ICERM working in theoretical and computational number theory. I still think about math and computation and would be happy to talk more about it. I usually write either #python or #cpp and I like talking about #data or #code or #libraries (as in books, or as in #opensource).

C and C++ developers often use !, && and ||. Many don't know that not, and and or (among others) have been part of C and C++ for 3 decades. They were introduced to C in 1995, and to C++ in 1998. if (!ok) if (not ok) if (var_a && var_b) if (var_a and var_b) if (var_c || var_d) if (var_c or var_d) Personally, I much prefer using the keywords not, and, and or. I find it makes the code much easier to read naturally. #C #Cpp
