@ohyran@social.piewpiew.se @hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange There’s been a recent trend for corporate chain restaurants to add a tip line even if it’s not a traditional tipping establishment. There’s only a moral obligation to tip at restaurants with table service. Wait staff has a lower minimum wage (like 2-3$/hr) and the tips are 90% of their income.

@TomF@mastodon.gamedev.place Pico-8 has a source code limit of 8k tokens so you likely won’t reach the 64k byte limit that they both have.

@TomF@mastodon.gamedev.place @sol_hsa@mastodon.gamedev.place @ocornut@mastodon.gamedev.place I use unit tests as a “don’t mess with my code” constraint. Or documenting edge cases that the code must get right. Or as a form of regression testing. Or all three at the same time.

@pervognsen If it’s any consolation, they can’t cancel on a whim. The planes fly in circuits and if they cancel the flight, then they cancel the rest of the chain. The flights on back and forth all day routes are vulnerable, through.

@rebane2001 It seems to get myopic fairly quickly. I liked a couple video games and pretty soon my feed was mostly video games. So, through numbers alone it surfaced another game I liked and got even more focused. Overall, I was liking more non-games than games, but it wasn’t learning that I liked other stuff. The small number of game likes were focused, but the non-game likes in the majority were diffuse.

@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange The real problem is that if they replace authentic clickbait headlines, I might not realize I don’t want to read the article. It’s like scraping off warning labels.

@pervognsen RAM Doubler has been baked into macOS for years. It compresses pages as an intermediate step before swapping to disk.

@runevision@mastodon.gamedev.place If I were to attempt to make a Maxis-style (oversimplified but feels correct) SimGrass game… The map would have two parameters, sunlight and moisture. Then I would have different models of ground cover selected based on how well those grasses thrive in those locations. Blending happens naturally because the conditions could be halfway between the ideal conditions of two grasses. You could add a third variable of foot traffic/toughness if you want natural paths from wildlife.

@yiningkarlli@mastodon.gamedev.place The first guide to DoD I read spelled this out. It even gave an example where Vector3s were split into an array of XY and an array of Z because it fit the code’s access pattern better.

@zeux@mastodon.gamedev.place @lesley@mastodon.gamedev.place @nothings@mastodon.gamedev.place @nicebyte@mastodon.gamedev.place last time I looked, the best ray-slab test was faster than the fastest ray-center/extents test. But it was hard to find a definitive answer. Someone really ought to keep a leader board for this kind of stuff.
