I have watched a raindrop caress a flower
with the tenderness of a lover
and found more meaning in that moment
where it clings to the edge
than in the philosophies of men

@User47@vmst.io which leads to things like growing your own food, fixing/driving old cars, and doing your own home repairs....
Once you notice corporate feudalism in one area you start seeing it EVERYWHERE.

I think it's useful to remember: people usually, honestly believe their religion. But one can't look to scripture or even necessarily church teachings to understand what those beliefs are. You need to look at their actions, attitudes, and the things they are willing to do in the name of their god.

One day of many since 2016 when I'm wondering how my fellow americans managed to grow up so profoundly ignorant of history. My own education was spotty at best but I still manage to recall plenty of examples why you don't want the government to support any religion, even your own.
Once again grieving that things I thought were obviously shared values are not.

That will be my review of the 2020s: the dumpster is bigger and it's all on fire.

@Lironah@mstdn.games for sure. It's always been distressing to me how many people can read the gospels and come away thinking the wealthy, powerful, and religious are god's chosen. The red words are not subtle on that point.

Python packaging and dependency management remains a massive dumpster fire. If anything the dumpster is more massive than 20 years ago when I learned this stuff and all of it is still on fire.
Then again, does any ecosystem do this right?

Clicked through because I thought maybe they were looking for a principle engineer or director level and nope. Looking for a EE with 8 years experience. 🤷

It's not exactly a helpful metric but "sensible abstractions" == "I can still understand them 5+ years later AND they save me time"
Do with that what you will. 🤪

@lifewithtrees@mstdn.social yes definitely identity and confirmation bias folded together. And that identity is very fragile. They are afraid of losing in-group status if they seem to be accepting of the wrong thing, person, or idea. Not to mention the fear of literal hell. I think that fear is the motive force behind the "feels like persecution".
I've sometimes thought maybe the "gay agenda" is "people can be themselves without fear" and that is exactly what would bring christians real salvation.

@elaterite@mastoart.social tub drains are the worst!
Except maybe water heater fittings which I have yet to successfully remove. Easier to just replace the whole damn thing.

First day in the 80s at my house. A good afternoon to make an ice tea and take a nap with the cat.

@ikluft@avgeek.social weirdly, you can kinda remove the vertical stabilizer and move the horizontal stabilizers to the front and it works. But pilots are polarized around whether this looks "elegant" or "dumb". 😁

@ikluft@avgeek.social you're right! I'd forgotten how substantial the winglets are on long-ez and company. The only thing I can think of without verticals is the B2, and I recall hearing it was famously unstable.
