The Tuesday #daylily du jour, finally something different! These are amongst the bad-timing transplants, so just happy to see a few blooms.

The #Daylily du jour is again an assortment of the same 3 varietals, so I apologize for being so repetitive.
There are 5 plants in one bed and 7 in the other that look ready to open, so hoping we get to see a bloom before the deer find them again, like last year.

Oh, neat! I've been collecting stickers from everywhere we go, and putting them in a journal, but those are gorgeous!

Well, #Asheville folks, this is pretty good news. It starts tonight, and will be open tomorrow.
Those 2 east bound lanes on I26 will be open!

Another stop on our #Brevard, NC adventure today was Dolly's ice cream, a very old-timey spot along 276/Pisgah Highway, which stretches from 280 up to the Blue Ridge Parkway with any numbers of hiking trails and waterfalls along the route.
Always popular in the summer we hadn't visited since trying once last summer, when they hadn't quite reopened after their post-Helene rebuild.
Quite good #IceCream with more flavors than one could count.

As in everything I've read or heard in the years I've been following him, this video on what the GOP's cry of "voter fraud" really means, is dead on target.
If you can, please watch, about 15 minutes.

The route back from #LakePowhatan and through the Arboretum, only about 1/3 of the route is a trail and not a gravel road. It does run along Bent Creek which is always attractive.

And doing it earlier is not better, because then the humidity is pushing 100%.
Hope you're okay, lots of liquids.

That's lovely, Eddie, what a wonderful day it's been. Yesterday and last night, too.
I keep saying "well, this is the last cool day of the season" and then we get one more, so I'm continuing that until late August...

#Daylily du jour for Thursday, nothing very exotic I'm afraid, so you get two.

Oh, please.
We've been teased with a week of rainfall forecasts, and gotten 0.01" one very disappointing day.
A bit more rain again would be really nice. Like... 0.5" a week nice. Not 20" a day nice, 'kay, just in case the rain gods are listening?

So, you're having a slow-motion hurricane? This is just wild...
I hope the floods don't happen to anyone, but damn that's a lot of rain again.

I'm really sorry you're dealing with HCA in your hospital, they took our excellent non-profit and have ruined it to the point of 4 "immediate jeopardy" rulings from CMS in just a few years.

It's a pretty cool city, with a lot of galleries, and actual shops, not just chain restaurants. And so many coffee shops. And 2 bakeries.
Everything's hot now, so can't imagine playing football in August.

For anyone who is attempting to claim Canadian citizenship through the December #C3 ruling, an upsetting brake has been pushed by IRCC on Saturday, for a number of people who have already obtained their certificates: in some cases, their citizenship is being suspended, and different documents demanded.
This, now, after the unclear documentary instructions in the application, and the enormous backlogs at the provincial archives, not to mention the challenge of finding any documentation from even the late 1800's.

It is lovely, as are each of the 3 photos, along the process of them opening. North Carolina has an indigenous azalea that's orange, and it's such a treat to drive along the highest section of the Blue Ridge Parkway at the right time, and just see it mixed in at the edge of the tree line.

Today's #Daylily du jour is very like the previous ones, as these 2 plants are really churning out the blossoms this week. Several others seem ready to bloom, so I'm hoping to get different ones soon.

The Man drove south on 26 (ok EAST) about 10am today, and when the lanes opened up, he was the *only* person to pull over into them! What a treat.
We have 2 new lanes after the construction of the new exit, but before the new BRP bridge, so I seriously hope this makes Long Shoals an easier exit and we have fewer backups.
Northbound, of course, is still a mess. Almost side-swiped so many times by speeding trucks in that right "exit only" lane right at the bridge.

Looking again at the most recent drought map, it appears there are 5 states still that are completely in a drought condition (D1 or above.) Not saying his means anything in particular, and "abnormally dry" is also a bad thing. But still.

#Hike #Walk to Lake Powhatan this morning in the #NCArboretum, when it was actually still cool, under 60F when we started. A level road for much of the way, the lake is a fishing spot for many.

#Daylily du jour brings 2 new daylilies today, one brand newly-planted and blooming, and one transplanted and blooming regardless. Both purples.
"Purple d'Oro" and "Kansas Kitten" varietals.

That's an interesting series, they remade it in about 2008, I think, with a great cast. I tried the older one, after the newer one and it was a little more difficult. Enjoy!
