As such, to sighted people: please use alt-texts to describe your images, so that blind folks also get it. Have fun! ^^

@ariadne@social.treehouse.systems how fast is the blur? Like, if I were to throw this on, say, an old exynos4 phone with an armv7 SoC and Mali-400 GPU, would it render alright or be super sluggish (considering Plasma Mobile itself is rendering ok-ish, about 20-30 fps)

Replying to
@TheEvilSkeleton@social.treehouse.systems so I got linked to this before ... from what I can tell in the issue, as an outsider, it looks like neither side wanted a productive conversation, and it just felt rude on both sides. The issue body itself also initially didn't look completely clear what the actual problem is, it just asked for rebranding everything without any specific reason. This article itself is just inflammatory, again pointing fingers at LM which is not helpful. Note linuxmint is not innocent either, they definitely messed up by packaging gnome-calendar in this state, but I feel if the discussion started by clearly stating the problem (people reporting long solved bugs in the wrong place, which is hurting upstream) and not pointing fingers all the time the outcome probably would've changed significantly. But instead there was a lot of miscommunication, both from your side and their side, miscommunication that could have definitely been avoided, which is sad to see.

@aks@scalie.zone @baralheia@dragonchat.org hah a friend has once made her own AI model trained exclusively on her IRC logs (with names scrubbed of course). It wasn't useful, but it was fun, kept doing funny jokes from what I recall. Really, I'm not against the *technology* itself. I'm against the AI companies trying to takeover the world with this.

"you'll be left behind if you don't use LLMs"

this kind of thing has been said for a while for every single new hyped thing. "You'll be left behind if you don't use "

Yet, when one doesn't use that new and exciting thing, nothing really happens. Everyone forgets that hyped thing that was once new.

Who’s responsible for bug reports on old software versions?

Consider this hypothetical: An operating system (OS) ships version 1.5 of a piece of software. Meanwhile, the latest version of that software is 3.0. A user on that OS experiences an issue in versi…

@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social @kuketzblog@social.tchncs.de I would archive to archive.org and in addition take screenshots if that's a concern. The advantage w/ screenshots also is that, assuming you just post them here, they will never go down unless your infra does (or you remove them)

Replying to
@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social @kuketzblog@social.tchncs.de I think criticism, while valid, doesn't have its place in a project account. It should probably be in some developer's fedi account, or if that's not possible, in CW in your project account. People sometimes want to read your account to learn about GrapheneOS news, not to learn about other people saying inaccurate stuff about it. By talking a lot about them you're (unintentionally) basically advertising for their content, giving them attention, and I'm not sure that's what you want. You just can't fix every single article talking about GrapheneOS. But you can recommend reading the official documentation to users confused about them, or even you can get in touch with people writing about it to gently suggest corrections. Inaccurate claims aren't necessarily intentional.

@noisytoot @alexanderkjall it's also obfuscated IMO. Why need to zlib.decompress ? Can't you give us the data itself without compression? A bunch of variables also have quite meaningless names. It really does scream a lot like obfuscation.

if you reply to this telling me to not use vscode i will probably block you, yes that includes suggesting codium or whatever

I'm pretty sure vscodium is basically the same as if you got vscode straight from your distro repos (unless your distro just ships the precompiled binaries straight from microsoft, which is a bad idea™)

Not that I looked much into vscodium these past few years.
