Okee, ik haak af bij het webinar van NCSC over leveranciersmanagement.

Over de risico's van bigtech zeggen/adviseren ze: maak een risicoanalyse zodat de risico's geaccepteerd zijn, want een andere optie heb je toch niet omdat deze leveranciers zo groot zijn dat je hun voorwaarden wel moet accepteren.

Als we het over leveranciersmanagement (met nadruk op dat laatste) hebben, dan zullen we in dit tijdsgewricht zeer duidelijk iets met lock-in moeten. De opmerking in het webinar getuigde van een hoge mate van Stockholmsyndroom (zoals begrepen in de populaire toepassing van de term).

@kissane The end of that paragraph, quickly learning up or relying on the knowledge of specialists, is where I feel AI puts a Dunian thumper in the loosened sand. Instead of getting that real source or person, we let something credible sounding fill in the blanks and we act on it with the same firm belief that lets us get through the day on our shadowy incling of how the world works. Thanks for letting my brain make a clearer connection there!

@mhoye There is a trope where someone tries Linux, something doesn't work, breaks or they can't get something done (for whatever reason), they blame the OS, bail back to Windows, and triumphantly describe the utterly insane shenanigans they have performed to get Windows to do the thing they wanted. At this point I just roll my eyes and wonder why someone would spend all that time and energy on making a broken thing work instead of finding a new, proper way to do it. Mental, emotional comfort..?

Het is op zich niet veel meer dan SAML, maar je moet wel ergens de koppeling tussen de authenticatie en het terugspugen van de BSN veilig weten te regelen en daar is vast ergens in de keten toestemming voor nodig. Hoe doet Yivi dat?

Your aunt, or whoever you helped, will talk to people about it, especially about niggles or problems. Those other people will then start to pressure your aunt to quit Linux, because they themselves don't know it and if your aunt has an issue, it must be as broken as their confirmation bias thinks it must be.

@bart@smop.fyi Dat moet misschien ook gebeuren, maar als je naar de rechtzaken van Schrems kijkt, dan gaat dat decennia duren omdat telkens weer een nieuw pleistertje wordt geplakt dat een paar jaar dienst doet totdat je die weer door de rechtzaal hebt gejaagd, dus daar ben ik ook weer niet zo heel hoopvol over.

@richlv@mastodon.social @bart@floss.social OpenStreetMap is crap. If I type the start point 'Grasso Den Bosch' in the search bar, it can't find it. Succesful navigation stops there. If a user can't just plonk everything in the search box like in Google Maps it will never compete.

Kuch, exit-fee voor het enorme werk van het dumpen van de database, bedoel ik natuurlijk. De lock-in kan uit elke hoek komen als je er niet vooraf over hebt nagedacht.
