I have a rant pending about the macOS update process with keychain, once I understand it more fully and don't come across as completely ignorant.
Stuff secured there become unavailable to apps in ways that can cause data loss (especially third party, which weren't coded for this state), and macOS is very unaggressive about clearing the error.

Yet another update: it went off again after changing the battery. I think it’s actually detecting smoke from the poor air quality in BC. I’ll have to go see if I can install some passive air filters that are strong enough to filter out the shit from outside.

We just discovered it wasn’t the 21 year-old smoke detectors failing, although after 21 years they need a replacement so it’s just as well we replaced them. Rather, it was the 16 month old smoke detectors in the basement… which include AA batteries. Fuck. So there’s some yearly maintenance we’re going to have to remember to do.
The new smoke detectors we installed tonight just recharge off of the wiring. Much better.
Either rename the Hlinka Gretzky Cup or just off Wayne Gretzky.
(Not serious about that second solution. But the Hlinka part is in memory, which is nice since he’ll never turn into a MAGA traitor.)
Simon has been trying to provoke Sylvester to chase him for the last 10 minutes. Sylvester just turned to face Simon, and Simon made a little whirring noise and ran into the next room. No chase yet! #Cats
My asshole brain woke me at 3 AM with a spontaneous horror story about being trapped on a mountain with assholes with African lions. Simon (the orange cat) sensed my distress from this, and now won’t leave me alone to sleep.
Combined with the heat (I had to close off the vent system) and I’m not sure I’m going to get any more sleep tonight.

Almost every "spam" attempt I've seen on Mastodon has actually been scam spam, not just advertising spam. Does that line up with what you've seen?

I have a magnetic power bank (that unfortunately predates MagSafe) with one absolutely killer feature: an incredibly powerful flashlight. I wish this was a basic feature of all (or at least most) power banks.
