I have Mint on a box in my house that acts as the family media centre as well as on my youngest's laptop. I have FreeBSD on my home 'server' which runs a few services. Given my use cases I could have mostly used them interchangeably without noticing a difference. The only thing that I might run into problems with is that I have a ZFS NAS so that can run into compatibility issues. IMO both are fine. I had more learning to do with BSD because I'd come from Linux but it wasn't crazy

@yomikoma @oysta Oh wow, I'd never thought of this but it's an amazing idea. It doesn't even need to be just formats - thinking genuine historical conflicts like metric/imperial conversion, railway gauges, electrification standards etc.
