@afilina@phpc.social it is soooo weird to me to finally see people hate on jetbrains. i've been against it for a long time purely because its written in java and takes an hour to load. my hate for things tends to be so stalwart that eventually people always end up on my side if i just wait 25 years. the java angle is because of how absolutely sore my arse is still after being forced to use php eclipse at my first job. (and by "using" eclipse i mean watching it crash every 40 seconds)

@syntaxseed@phpc.social this one was my favourite last week professor crafts essay instructions with hidden tokens so a copy paste into ai will make it rant about dumb things. 32 of 35 students turn in unaudited ai essays. professor allows them to admit to what they did and try again for a good grade. only 2 of the 32 do. this next generation is fkd. i cannot fathom what it is like to be so dumb as to eat my paid class grade when given a second chance like that.

of all the things i have been surprised that i can animate with css, like clip-path, and filter: saturate(), at least in firefox filter: blur() completely breaks the animation such that "nothing happens"

@GuillaumeRossolini@infosec.exchange @ramsey@phpc.social yeah, nope, screw that. should have been there the day i found out walmart got a new att branded wifi that my phone automatically connected to without even asking. people on the other side of the store could probably hear how many f-bombs threw. i'm not a physically violent person normally but on that day i was seeing red. all the effort i put in to ban the original att wifi. its used fingerprint your visit by the owner of the cisco router. not to gift you internet.

i like how css has units like centimeters but 1cm on my computer is 1.2cm and 1cm on my phone is 0.6cm. so that is useless.

my phone says it has placed an emergency sos call for me. i do not know why. also nothing has happened. so idk.

my weird fascination with remaking the same "os with a desktop" in html/js/css over and over and over. but this time the api will *totally* be good enough for me to actually enjoy making apps for it.

container based media queries are my new favourite css thing. haven't checked if bootstrap uses them yet, doubt it. on my own custom ui kit it lets me give the app proper responsive behaviour based on the container size. meaning your flexbox grid can now react to its own size independently of the browser size. each widget can be self managed for best scaling behaviours.

container based media queries are my new favourite css thing. haven't checked if bootstrap uses them yet, doubt it. on my own custom ui kit it lets me give the app proper responsive behaviour based on the container size. meaning your flexbox, grid, etc, can now react to its own size independently of the browser size. each widget can be self managed for best scaling behaviours based on where you shoved it in the template and how the template is behaving on any viewport.

all that to say but i ran out of space, that so far it has been pleasurable. compared to what usually ends up being a blind build because i wanted a path it couldn't digest or my export worked but not how it likes them. lots of things that worked but yet i got no auto completes so i would tweak what i do until finally it would complete what i want where i want.

the amount of time i just spent getting furiously angry with my computer to find out the corner of my phone was just barely pushing down keypad enter enough.

we have had a large data import running for 35+ hours now. its going much slower than i expected, but i am really impressed that mariadb is using 100%+ of one of the cpu while the other cpu is keeping the other services responsive, which includes services attempting to read that same database.
