I benched 300lbs (136kg) for the first time ever yesterday. It's one of those "relatively few people on the planet can do this" type of achievements and I'm really proud of myself.
I started going to the gym consistently a year ago, my bench press went from 185lbs to 300lbs in that span. Life's been hard the last few years, but achieving the weight goal and the consistency needed to achieve it helps me feel less lost...

At a baseball tournament in Sandusky and my son's team only has 9 players (injuries and stuff), so it makes sense in the 5th inning of game 2 our catcher would get himself thrown out and automatically suspended for game 3 lol

@bobmagicii@phpc.social i went to the bookstore last evening with my wife (who reads a lot) and it's just so overwhelming. I wish I had been an avid reader before and had a stack to go through. I'm 60 or so pages into a book that is basically just murder, gore, and fucking and it's been good despite not really getting into any of those things yet...
I have to figure out what I want to read that isn't a manual or programming documentation lol

@ian@phpc.social If someone told you the sky was red, you'd just move along. But someone says that a widely used programming language is dead despite facts to the contrary, and it requires dozens of "nuh-uh" blog posts and social media posts.
This easiest explanation is that it's rage bait and it's worked for 20 years with very few changes. Again, I been away since like 2019, but it's really weird that it continues to generate any attention at all...
