At the end of each year, I do a huge round of funding open source projects (based on a % of my income for that year).
Please be aware that projects which use GenAI in their development, will no longer qualify and will be actively excluded from funding, as I will not directly, or indirectly, participate in funding highly unethical tech which is destroying the planet and the soul of humanity.
I will also replace any such OSS usage with #noAI alternatives.

@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange I find anything marked with North/South/East/West much more confusing as it means you actually need to know your orientation at all times.
I know this is a thing in the US, but it confuses the hell out of everyone else.
And even in the US, I'd be on some highway going West, but then part of the highway was North-South oriented. Sorry, but that's just one big mind-f*ck.
Give me a sign with a destination/direction any time.

Did you know that the EU is getting new banknotes ?
And that you can have a say in what design these will have ?
Take the survey and help shape the future of money in the EU!

As an Open Source person I am apparently expected to keep doing things for free so I get invited to participate in EU policy events in Brussels, with not even an attempt to offer me compensation for travel, lodging or time.
So I decline.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange Would be great if the map included a date - as-in: "this is the status as of July 2026". Should help prevent people basing decisions on outdated information.

RE: https://phpc.social/@sebastian/117001358342074524
Nice write-up!
To qualify a little: the original code already had a LOT of guardrails against exactly this situation. Those guardrails just failed to guard against a few exotic callback formats, which are very rarely used to begin with and even rarer to encounter in array keys.
To be honest, I was flabbergasted that PHP even supported the callback format mentioned in the CVE and I'm not sure it even _should_ be supported by PHP.
But as it is, the tool should be - and has been - fixed.

A security vulnerability in PHPCSUtils revealed an eval() call in a static analysis tool. Why disable_functions cannot reach eval(), and what a switch in the PHP engine to disable it could look like:

By the time some medication has 7 (!!!) pages listing potential side-effects in small print, all in all approximately 350 different side-effects.... my brain no longer understands how that medication ever got approved for human usage....

No surprise here.
I mean, seriously, who the heck ever thought this was a good idea in the first place ? You know, didn't they ever stop to ask the question "What could go wrong ?" ????

@lhauser@mefi.social @0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange a "Hague" is a well maintained hedge.
But "Den Haag"/"The Hague" is colloquial.
The town's real name is "'s Gravenhage", which basically means something along the lines of "the park of the earl" - or to be more precise "the hedges which surround the earl's hunting grounds".

I don't understand how the "terrorism" regime could reasonably be applied here. And even if it could, it didn't target Germany, so it still feels like all these measures are over the top.
P.S.: and yes, I am fully aware these are mostly rhetorical questions and I suspect you have them too 🤔

Let's not do silly things like deprecate them.

The question shouldn't be "what problem does this solve" from a *human* perspective.
In my view, the question should be: what problem does a temporary human life solve from the perspective of eternal beings ?
